Went to buy a Romanian M44 today but

I got a add from Big 5 Sporting goods about Romanian M44 on sale for $49.00 + tax. So I head to the mall, what a mistake that was today. Get into the store and start looking at the rifle. It has the arsenal stamp for a Hungarian M44 and the barrel is stamped Hungarian. So I ask to see the box and it says Hungarian. When ask the clerk about this he says they our Romanian/Hungarian M44's. So instead of fighting with him about this I do the paperwork and get delayed. What do you guys think I should do? The rifle is in GOOD+ condition but I can get one from Century in VG condition for $55.00 shipped.

It's a crap shoot with Century, I've gotten some pretty good VG M44's from them but maybe I just got lucky. Their VG could be about the same as your good +. I'd just get the one you looked at.

I was thinking about going down also . did you look at the Mauser's , were they any good .

The Mausers looked like crap. But they where selling tons of them. I saw one guy come and buy 12 rifles. I think your right REDSTAR. I will just go ahead and get it. One more for the collection will not hurt.
