I am looking into buying a robarms xcr or a m-96 carbine. Robarms talks up the xcr action quite a bit and so I am trying to find out what makes it so much better than the m-96. The actions sound pretty much the same from the way they talk, is there any differance or just "new packaging" for the same action. thanks for all the help :Imconfuse
oh I hear there is a year wait for a m-96 is that true?

It is an AR15 that has been modernized with the gas system of the AK I believe. It has better ergonomics than the M96 but with its reliablity. it was a contender for the SCAR-L program but lost out for some BS reason. Its strong suite is that it is much much easier to attach mission specific accesories and modern equipment than the Stoner or AK design.

Its (XCR) is a hybred of AR, AK, FNFAL. Alex has taken advantage of the good parts of various weapons and compiled them into the rifle. Below are the spec's off Robarm.com. I really want to see one and am a potential buyer, but...and it's a big one....Robinson has yet to deliver on the goods. Website states they hope to start deliveries end of January. We will see.

Tha XCR is a great concept. However, I am unsure as to whether or not the rifle would be worth the investment. They have yet to develop the 6.8 conversion they were hyping, and as you might remember from the M96, RobArm kept promising a belt-fed conversion and a 7.62x39 conversion and never delivered on eigther one. Now, Robarm has a new design and they are just dropping the M96 like it was nothing, and all those who bought one in hopes of being able to take advantage of its modularity are left with nothing(except an awesome rifle). I am a huge fan of RobArm, they make really great weapons, but the company seems to lack a sense of commitment,

The M96 is an awesome firearm. I am glad I have one, and have had fairly good luck with Robinson's product support. This is the first that I have heard of them dropping the rifle. It is a shame that they couldn't do as promised with the other styles of M96, but at least you can hold and shoot an M96, the XCR is just a dream.

They are too small of a shop to focus on more than one gun its seems. Now that the XCR is their baby, the M96 will have to live with 2nd best.

It seems like the XCR is to underdeveloped. It would have been nice if they kept with the M96 and just developed it more to meet somewhere between M96 and XCR. I have a design that I have been working on that blends the two together beautifully.

RobArms probably sells 10 or more Veprs for every M96, solely due to price.
