I just bought a new PT-111 9mm, i haven't taken it to the range yet but i've heard a lot of good things.
i was just wondering if anybody had some opinions on this, from experience either first hand or second hand.
and, if anybody knows of a link w/ detailed take down instructions. the manual shows how to field strip it but i like knowing how to take my firearms down to the last pin and spring

One of my ex friends picked one up before I stoped hanging out around him.
Really smooth, I liked it.
Where at in Cleveland are ya? I'm from Eastlake.

Bought a Millennium Pro for my daughter to carry. Like the light weight and 12+1 ability. The pistol has been 100% reliable through about 500 rounds or so, but that doesn't tell the whole story.
When she first put it on paper to break it in, she was shooting at a standard target at 15 yards, and couldn't put a round on the paper, kept shooting the ground about 2 feet in front. Finally we moved to 10 feet, minimum combat distance and put up a 5 foot by 5 foot cardboard to see where the rounds were going. They were all over the place. I couldn't do any better either, so I called a friend who is an expert pistol marksman. He couldn't hit anything.
I finally bought a pistol rest and set it up. The nice range officer would not let me set up at 15 yards even though my daughter and I were the only ones there, so I fired off 4 rounds from the rest on the 25 yard bench. A check of the target showed a nice 4 inch group! That pistol is a bear to put on target, but we at least found that the pistol is very very accurate. Now all we have to do is figure out how to hold it. We spent the rest of the day knowing that it will do the job, and after a few rounds and a lot of consentration, my daughter started hitting the target.
100% reliable, but like anything else, practice, practice, practice. The Taurus PT-111 is not the most natural pointing pistol and takes a lot of practice to hold and fire it the way it wants to be fired.
Just a note, after the second time at a range with this little devil, before we were sure there was nothing physically wrong with the Taurus, I pulled out my Ruger P95 that is my primary carry, and put the first 4 rounds in a nice string with all holes touching from 15 yards. Now that pistol in my hands is a natural pointer.

Aw4g63 - I live in Euclid. Do you ever shoot at Sherwin? I had some BAAAD experiences back when it was big bore. the one douchbag that worked there said he couldn't give me the AK i had transferred there because it had a pistol grip and i was only 19.
-----------
imanaknut - I had the EXACT same problem when i first shot it. i was all over the place and i felt like just throwing the pistol at the target just for the sake of saying i hit it. to make sure it wasn't me i pulled out my Kimber Custom 2 and put a nice tight grouping. after about 200 rounds i got a lot better with it. i also found it a little difficult to handle, espicially with big hands.
------------
stetson - thats the only real complaint i had w/ the pistol. my custom 2 has virtually no trigger pull so it's going to take me a while to get used to the PT-111

The nice thing about the PT-111 is that it has been 100% in the reliability department. A must in any carry piece.

I belive it man, I've heard a lot of bad stuff about how it use to be. Now I have no problems. Everyone there is really friendly and very helpfull. But if you want to shoot your AK, it's going to cost around $10.99 a box. For their ammo. They're on this reloading kick and you can only shoot brass there. I've only delt with them for range and ammo though. I bought my S&W .40 at B&T in mentor and my Wasr10 at Dunhams in Willoughby. I'm pretty new to owning guns of my own.
I bought a Millenium Pro 745C (.45 compact) about a week ago. I've put 250 rounds through it without a hiccup. It's nice and small, comfortable to hold in my big hands, and generally very easy to shoot. The price was right too.

you have 3 small medal pieces on the side of your gun
1. pull the slide back and lock it in place with the middle piece
2. the 3rd piece closest to the barrel needs to be twisted downward
3. once twisted down, use your figernails or something small and strong and pull it out
4. drop the middle piece and let the slide go back to normal
5. pull the trigger and push the slide off forward, do not pull back
hopefully that helps
