I represent a municipality that received some M-16's from Homeland Security. One of the officers was designated the "armorer", because he said he "knew all about rifles and machine guns." Famous last words.....Got the weapons out to requalify, and found that he had:
1. Not broke the weapons down while on "Safe"
2. Had ruined the rear takedown pin, detent, and spring
3. Had tool marks around the auto-sear
4. had removed and (lost?) the firing pin
So....
Can anyone tell me in graphic, slow motion detail how to replace the takedown pin, detent, and spring? I can handle the sear and firing pin, courtesy of my favorite Uncle, Sam--qualified on an M16A1 back in 1986--and already got replacments from Sherluk. thanks for the help, and Semper Fi
