If so, what do I have to clean on my M-44 after firing? Just the bore, or is a complete bolt disassembly required?
Thanks~

I would treat any surplus combloc military ammo as corrosive.
Therefore I would completely clean the bore, chamber, bolt and mag assembly with an alkali (base) type cleaner if I were you.
The bolt disassembly and reassembly is easy to do.

I'm with REDSTAR. Consider all foreign ammo as potentially corrosive. I clean the same day as I shoot. Windex sprayed down the bore followed by windex patches then clean as usual. I normally only spray the bolt down with Windex followed by brake cleaner and then WD-40 but you can't be too careful. If anything I'd rather replace a bolt or bolt part than ruin a barrel. I do the same. All milsurp is corrosive unless I've a specific reason to believe otherwise.
And frankly, I've found boiling water so convenient because it's self drying, I now use it for primary metal degreasing when I clean new C&R's. And the "fumes" don't send me "somewhere else" like regular solvents do anyway.

I did a nail corrosion test on one can of it months ago when it first hit. It took 8 weeks to see any corrosion so it may have been atmospheirc moisture causing that. It was just the faintest tint of brown after the 2 months.
However, I still wouldn't trust the stuff as far as I can throw a pickup truck overhanded! Clean the bore, chamber, mag well, mag follower and bolt face in particular. Then check the rifle every day for a week to make sure you got it all! That's my SOP for corrosive ammo cleaning.

Good idea!

Dear God guys its a gun not a nuclear weapon!
Freaks! ;)
(half kidding):D
I just figured the trick to getting the bolt back together easily so I don't mind cleaning that anymore.
How do I completely disassemble my M-44? I can get the bolt + mag off, and probably the bands that hold the handguard on. But how do I get that bolt with the two holes in it off? Do I need a special tool or something?
I can tell there's still alot of cosmoline under the receiver and barrel and want to clean it.
Any help is appreciated.

You don't need to or want to take off the stock bolt.
To disasseble a M44:
1)Take out cleaning rod if your lucky enough to have one.
2) un latch bayo, you could mount it if you care to.
3) Slide stock bands over the band springs. This can be tricky sometimes. You usually have to exert alot of pressure on the springs to get them down far enough to slide the bands over. Sometimes you even have to press in with a screw driver, but watch out for scratching the stock. Take the forward band up first then do the lower one. The lower one is easier. Just slide them up to the barrel, don't take them all the way off.
4) Lift off upper handguard.
5) remove follower/floor plate assembly by fliping down on the latch so the floorplate drops, then pinch in follower and floorplate like a pair of scissors and pull back up and out.
6) Remove screw at front of mag assembly
7) Remove screw in back of receiver.
8) pull out mag assembly
9) You can now lift the barrel up and out of the stock.
10) Clean all the goop out.
reverse to re-assemble. Nothing further is required unless you want to repair or replace something. Be careful on the bands, make sure the jointed end is on the bottom when you replace.
It's easy to put them on upside down if your not paying attention.

That front stock band is tricky. But once I got that off, the rest was a cinch.
Now my gun is so clean I don't want to fire it! :D
