ok, I know I might be opening a can of worms here, but I have narrrowed my search for an upper to Bushmaster or RRA. Now I would like some opinions on bith as to which is the better choice. This rifle will be used for range shooting, usually no more than 200 yards. Thanks!

I'd say go with a Bushmaster upper.
I'm kind of partial to RRA, but I usually stick with RRA receivers, and a Bushy barrel.
Bushy barrels are top notch. The receivers are nearly identical, so that wont matter much.
RRA barrels are guaranteed to be 1MOA accurate, but the downside is they're not chrome lined. (unless you special order)
So really I'd say it comes down to your choice of
1MOA Guarantee vs 4150 Chrome Lined

They are both rated for 5.56x45 but want to hear something funny? OK, read something funny? Both Bushmaster and Rock River use stripped uppers from the same supplier! They do agree on what is best, now it comes down to which name you like, because they are so much alike.

I'm kinda leaning toward the RRA, I'll only be shooting this rifle for fun, and unfortunatley, I probably wont ever get the time to shoot it as much as I'd like! I've had my AK for 4 years now, and still havent gone through my first 1000 rounds of wolf yet! So for the price difference, I think I'm gonna go RRA

Whats even better is nearly ALL makers get their parts from the same people ;)
I just buy whatever is cheapest from the brands that are top notch :D

They may get their uppers from the same forges, but they are finished differently and I believe in different places. RRA (finished by CMT) specs a true DARK black anodizing on their uppers whereas Bushy's is sort of lighter black to sometimes grey if that at all matters to you. Also....all RRA flat tops are T marked whereas Bushy's are, for the most part, not. RRA also now lasers their logo in white on all their uppers....the Bushmaster is unmarked.

I'm thinking for the money, RRA is the best value

The laser engraving is on factory assembled peices IIRC, not just on stripped peices like uppers.

Hey, I may be wrong on this, but I was doing some online shopping for a 20' A2 and found that RRA's 20' (not 16's) are only rated for .223 "Wylde" what ever that means. The only two 20' uppers that I have seen rated for 5.56 (according to the distributors website) are Oly and Bushy. Any input would be appreciated since I'm grabbing a 20' A2 as soon as the rest of my enlistment bonus comes in. :salute:

I have a RRA A2 with 20" bbl and the Wylde chamber will digest .223 Remington and 5.56mm alike.

I'm glad I saw your reply concerning RRA and Bushmaster uppers. I am in the same situation as far as saving money and building an AR 15 A3 to shoot for fun.
Now it's a matter of .223 or 5.56 in a 16' barrel. I think the RRA 16' upper barrel is chrome-lined - I might be wrong!!! I'd like to get a complete upper (to include the bolt carrier assembly) and charging handle.
I'm leaning towards the RRA - does anyone else have some input??
Whew!! I'm glad to see that I was not the only poor bastard to sign up AGAIN!!
I'm waiting on my bonus so I can start my AR project, too!!! I'm going for a tactical look AR 15.

Check out the Eagle Arms website!!! It may help in your decision.

I think the RRA is chrome lined by special order. If you are not concerned with resale value, I'd go Bushmaster upper, or if building, a Bushmaster barrel, Stag A3 upper reciever, RRA lower reciever or Stag, RRA lower parts kit including collapsible stock and Midwest Industries Free Float railed hand guards.

I've got a BM M4gery which I really like.
I also like my RRA Varmint 20" setup with a Superior Arms Lower.
The RRA is well-finished, and what I have works good from the bench, but for maneuverability I grab the M4. That RRA setup that I have is quite heavy.
