My old man wants a .308 AR now, but only wants to spend a max of $1,000 -$1,100 (I told him nice guns cost more). Anyway even I can't find a conversion kit for him. So I was wondering if anyone here knew of any good websites that offer kits?

Conversion kits? Sorry, but there is no way to convert an AR15 to shoot .308 caliber. While they look similar, the dimensions are completely different. About the only shared parts between the two are the grips, stocks, and trigger groups. Also know that the several options out there in .308 AR's are themselves different and not not all parts are interchangeable. For instance.....a magazine for an Armalite AR10 will not work in a Bushmaster BAR10.
Unfortunately.......the best bet for something your price range is going to be waiting for Rock River to release their .308 caliber LAR-10 this summer. The retail prices on the least expensive model (20" standard A4) is $1100. Street price should be lower after the initial rush.
