I have a Harrington & Richardson 38

This pistol is in bad shape about 60% of the crome is gone and coverd in rust!
I soaked the pistol in LPS, and managed to get the push-pin on the side to break free! But i can't get the ?Release? to pull backwards so the pistol will break over?

etxshadow, is there a specific model name or number stamped on the revolver? Is this a break-top style or solid frame revolver?

etxshadow, you should be able to grab the knurled button on the left side at the end of the barrel extension and push it to the right. This should allow the barrel & cylinder to release and rotate up. If this doesn't work I would recommend having the revolver inspected by your favorite gunsmith. My guess is if the latch release isn't working properly the tendancy would be to try to pry on the frame to make it open but you want to avoid doing this.

Thats the gun but she looks alot worse than the one im holding, Do you know where i could get a front sight?
And Is this the ( H & R Police Automatic double action revolver )
Should i try to preserve what i have or refinish?

Thanks steve

Steve can i get you to break her open and send me a pick?
That would allow me to see what she looks like and where she breaks over.

Cant go to my local gunsmith he ran me around the last time i was there, i am now doing all the work my self.

Sorry for the poor picture quality. I'm 'borrowing' them from another website. The handguns are not mine. For replacement parts try contacting the people at Numrich Gun Parts Corporation, www.e-gunparts.com. These revolvers when in excellent shape probably sell for under $200. Yours may have more semtimental value. Hope this helps!

Thank you Steve, I am going to take it to a gunshop.
Do you thinkit would be a smart thing to bring the pistol back to new condition or should i preserve what i have!

The H&R top-break revolvers haven't gained a lot collectability over the years. You can probably have your revolver properly refinished without losing a lot of it's value.
