I was told colt would not sell them to civilians, is this true? After the sunset on the ban we should be able to buy them correct? I mean BUSHMASTER (and all other manufacturers) sell them why not COLT they are fine rifles.

I believe it maybe up to the individual gun dealers and distributers. After colt gets paid and it leaves their hands and its not a Class III weapon then i doubt they have much control over who the distributers sell to.

yea, colt dont want the dealers to sell to us
but fortunantly, colt dont always get what colt wants
go to any big gun show and 69s are anywhere from $1100 all the way to $1500 :losingit:
i paid $1300 myself about a year ago :salute:
as far as the why, i believe its all political bs
colts prolly being pressured to sell guns without the evil features we all love.
pressured by who? possibly the govt agencies that buy large amts of colts.
or just the anti gunners.
steve mace could probably answer that one

I asked the instructor at my Colt Armorer's class last week this same question, and he said that Colt simply doesn't want the liability. I don't exactly know what liability they are talking about since we're just talking about cosmetic features, but that's the "official line".
Apparently, the guns are sold only to Colt Law Enforcement Distributors who have to sign a letter of agreement that states basically that they will sell them in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local laws and / or ordinances. In other words, it's an empty and pointless agreement but I'm sure some corporate lawyers got paid hansomely to control that liability monster. Disaster narrowly averted
Anyway, the LEO distributors basically sell them to anyone who orders them, but since they are going to the general market now the demand is huge and the price is high. Basically, Colt can't make them fast enough and the civilian / LEO production side takes a back seat to the US military and Foreign contracts.

Thanks for the info guys.Has anyone done buisiness with kneseekguns? that mod# 6721 sounds like the better rifle. Heavier barrel and 1-9 twist. Although the ultimate would be the mod#6921 (true M-4). I wonder if they would take my wife in trade? Are these legal for us to buy with the 14.5 in barrel. They would be very collectible since colt is the only supplier of M-4 rifles to the millitary.

That would be the ultimate, and some day I plan to have one. Yes, it would be legal for you in Texas, but it is an NFA weapon so you'd have to get a Class 3 dealer to order it and hold it for you while your Form 4s cleared. There would also be the usual $200 tax to the ATF for the transfer tax, and that dealer's transfer fee (usually $100-$200 last I checked).
So it would be expensive, but legal.

have seen the 6921s for $1500 at sturmgewehr and i believe subguns
but at only 1.5 inches shorter that a 6920, to me it'd be better to get, or assemble one w/ an 11.5 inch bbl.
i mean if youre gonna go through all the nfa bs, why not get a REALLY SHORT gun.. :cents:

I love my Colt AR-15 LEO M4, it's a great gun; I might get one more for a safe queen, and give it to my son when he get older... $1150 is what I paid... Don't ask the AR-15 Mod. here they don't like Colt and they don't think it's worth it.... That's OK more for me....

Ummmm, I'm one of the mods on the AR-15 side of Gunsnet, and you'd be hard pressed to call me a Colt hater. I'll admit that I once didn't have an appreciation for just how different they are, but that was awhile back. Generally speaking, Colt builds and tests their guns to a standard 99.99% of us will never need, and as such other brands such as Armalite, Bushmaster and even my beloved RRA will suit us just fine.
There's only one top dog though, and that's COLT.

I've been one since this side opened up, but I like my Avatar and signage the way they are so I didn't change anything.
As for shooting today, I called your number this morning and got a fax. A few minutes later, it started raining a little on this end and less than 30 minutes after that I got called to go up to my son's school to help out with a rodeo theme thing.
you just dont wanna go. thats it aint it?
Nope, not at all. I had my Colt 20" HBAR and my Bushy 11.5" SBR entry gun both ready to go. I would have probably been on the road or already at ASC by the time I got called to the school, because the window was tight but it was there.
I'm thinking that next Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning might work if the weather cooperates. How about we try and make it then?
