Now before any of you rag on me for cutting up a C&R rifle, let me just say that I agree that for the most part C&R's should be left in thier original state.
But this particular project used a Spanish Destroyer Carbine that was in about 50% condition with a broken stock- so it wasn't exactly like I was bitchering a pristine gun ;)
Anyway, A while back, I read in a book about a weapon Millitary Armorment Corparation used to make out of a Spanish Destroyer Carbine. They shortened the BBL to about 8", inserted a 4MM chamber insert to convert the weapon from 9X32 to 9X19, and attached a supressor.
This was a highly effective silenced weapon with subsonic ammo, since there was no mechanical signature... The only noise it made was the "click" of the firing pin, and a "pfff" of the round.
Well, I liked the idea, so I decided to undertake making a similar gun.
Of course, mine has a 16.5" BBL (Shortened from 20") , and no supressor (yet)

THe mods I did were this-
I muled the part of the original stock that housed the action with the pistol grip and telescoping wire stock from a M1 Carbine collapsable rig.
I ported the barrel with a porting jig I made
Removed the rear sight (This was a bitch)
I inserted a 4MM steel chamber insert to convert the gun to 9MM nato (This is what is seen in the pic. This gun has since been rebarreled to .45 ACP, and uses 1911 mags :) )
I shortened the fore end
I shimmed the trigger- This cleaned up the pull SUBSTANTIALLY from the insanely sloppy millitary pull. It is very easy to do, and yields a fine little triger pull
I attached the dot site in a scout configutration as seen in the pic. This has since been removed with the rebarreling- so I have to replace it.
I refinished the entire weapon with Brownells Teflon Bake-On finish. (Not seen in the pic- This was later. Once I had it rebarreled, the finish changed again, so I have to re-coat the barrel again :( )
All said and done, it is a super lightweight little carbine- SUPER small (It barely makes the legal limit for BBL legnth and OAL when collapsed) and VERY accurate. We were hitting a torso sized target with it using regular run of the mill Hirthenberger +P+ 127's. (It REALLY likes hot ammo, but it can still hit a man at 100 with regular CCI Blazers)
I REALLY love this little gun :D
I am hoping to supress it soon with a regular .45 MAC can and see how it does.
