Here's the deal, I bought a Butler Creek barrel and Boyd's stock from Midway and a 10/22 Mag carbine a year or so ago and did the conversion.
I also bought a 10/17 Mach II kit and converted one of my son's 10/22's to .17 Mach II.
With that kit there was a heavier recoil spring and heavier handle than stock.
I read "somewhere" that the .17's generate more recoil energy 'cause they are pushing a smaller diameter bullet through a tinier bore with the same amount of powder so a heavier spring OR heavier bolt is needed.
On the 10/17 HMR I notice the empties have ballooned out heads.
Is this a problem?
Is there a heavier spring OR heavier bolt handle out there for the 10/22 Mag?
I have the buffer bolt stop pin installed BTW.
I'll try to attach photos, you'll notice the heavier bolt handle.
