View Full Version : What To Do With The Slop?

I converted my 10/22 into a Mach II. I forgot about how sloppy the trigger pull is. Can I modify the existing trigger to remedy this? If so this will save me the expense of a new trigger group. Thanks.

Sloppy as in overtravel?

I've heard of guys drilling through the trigger, tapping it and using a small Allen head screw as a set screw.

You could try a trigger shoe as well but I don't know who sells one for the 10/22 offhand...

I guess I mean overtravel. Your idea sounds like a good solution. I'll have to look into doing it when I can complete some of my other projects. Thanks... ... LRRP-87 out.

With the 10/22, your trigger return spring and buffer are already in place behind the trigger-no need to drill. I think if you lengthen the buffer slightly and experiment, you can get a non-adjustable trigger stop of sorts.
For overall trigger jobs, I'd recommend just going to Hawktech Arms and getting a Power Custom or Volquartsen hammer. That alone gives 85% of the performance of a new trigger group for about 1/5 of the price.
The custom sear and trigger provide only marginal improvement,IMHO.

Oooooh, forgot about that!

Shows you how long it's been since I fooled with a 10/22...:D

I'd rather just buy the hammer now that I know. Thanks.

Mine's been in the safe for awhile. I've been wringing out my trigger mods on my Marlin 925.
2 spring changes and some super glued soda can shims for trigger slop so far. Now I just have to address the overtravel issue and this will be a reasonably nice trigger for far less than a new Rifle Basix trigger.
It's a pity so few .22's are as easy and cheap to customize as the 10/22.
