1. I finally finished the #5. I Murphy soaped and steelwooled the grime off, then a light coat of Red Mahogany to darken the wood back a bit, Tru-Coat Stock finisher (3coats) light steel wool, Sprayed the barrel in High Temp black and baked at 300 degrees, and cleaned (0000 steelwool) the bolt and reblued it.
2. The barrel was pristine after all the kosmoline was removed. Now I just need a damn magazine and I can go play.

1. On day someone is going to have to tell me how to post two pictures at once.
2. I painted it because when I removed the barrel the underside was still painted and the trigger guard also showed signs of paint as well as the receiver.

that looks alot better. the paint you used, high temperature black, was that krylon high heat or what type was it? I used some Krylon on a Mosin but it ran with solvent. I didn't bake it though. I may have to try what you used, or do it again and bake it.

1. I used the Plasti-kote engine enamel black no 203. Uneversal black. It resists temps up to 1500 degrees. If it gets hotter then that I aint gonna be holding it anyway.
2. I got the baking idea from someone off the Norinco forum when I was trying to decide weather to try and paint it or reblue it. The investment was to much to mess up so I didnt do it to the Norinco; I experimented with this one. Actually it came out great. Baking it seemed to set the paint and harden it evenly. Of course the kosmoline that was left in it was bubbling a bit when I pulled it out.
3. Ive used this on engine blocks before, and its gotten gas and oil all over it without running. I dont think you would have a problem. I cleaned a while ago and solvent didnt bother it.

1. I just used solvent on her again. No problem. I guess the high temp paint and the baking did the trick. Damn I need a Magazine!!!!
