I have my first one (Recv'd Tues) Going out today to fire it with the owner of AK Concepts and will post our thoughts/results.....I have been selling and using the M96 since August of 1999 and own 2 of them(Best 223 weapon on the market) I feel the XCR will convert many shooters....At the Shotshow in Vegas(2006) 3 of us were able to see and handle the FN SCAR bid award rifle and after that walk 2 rows over and handle the XCR....absolutely no comparison ! The XCR is light years ahead on fit, feel and operation....Well worth the wait! Later....Kermit

Went great....with bolt closed mag was a little hard to lock in(striking butt of mag upward seated it)....bolt hold open device works great.....first round fired at 125 yard "GONG" nailed it.....set rear sight at 450 yards...first round hit.....62 grain ADCOM ammo....brass being deposited 25 to 30 feet at 2:00 o'clock(right front quartering) Too much gas but easily adjusted....3 people fired it.....no failures to function....upper to lower fit wiggles a little (Similar to AR but that is the only thing similar to an AR........I own 2 M96's and plan on at least 2 XCR's.....NOW the biggest problem waiting for the 14 rifles I have on Backorder....and then the 6.8 conversion......and then the 7.62x39 conversion, spare parts,ammo.....do I dare hope for the large caliber version?(308) Kermit

.308 will be awesome. I hope Robarm will get behind this product and behave a little better than past performance in the hype to reality ratio. Also, I hope that the M96 will be kept in their lineup and not fade away......
Great range report. Glad you like it.

3 more of us fired weapon today...the gas adjustment knob(acts like a plunger) once the 5/8 lock nut and washer is removed...tap the plunger down(tapping is to loosen it from carbon fouling causing it to stick) There are four settings marked with dots every 90 degrees on outside of plunger one ,two, three and 4 dots...when I recv'd the weapon it was set at 4 dots(Using ADCOM 62 grain 855 ammo the brass went 25 to 30feet) We reset it to the 2 dot position today and the brass was going 8 to 10 feet with far less muzzle rise.......AK Concepts owner description was "It is BORING" It functions flawlessly and I hit every target I shoot at....2 more presold today(I was sold yesterday) Oops! Make that 3 sold a regular customer and owner of a M96 Expeditionary rifle visited this afternoon and after hearing the report and handling the XCR committed to one.....the wait continues(For more rifles)

Yeap, I've wanted an XCR since Rob Arms annouced them back in 09/04. And from the reports Kermit sounds like he has handled alot of rifles in his time and he seems to hold his XCR in high regard.

I don't mean to upset anyone, but a range report can be fabricated easily. Maybe a "proof of life" shot with a newspaper might be in order ;)?

 I received my Robinson XCR three weeks ago from Impact Guns in Utah and have taking it to the range twice since then. It's had approximately 500 rounds put through it with not even a hint of malfunctioning. The first 300 rounds for the break-in period were American Eagle-the last 200 were Wolf steel cased. I’m the former owner of Bushmaster M4orgery; it was ok but a pain to clean. The XCR has an AK type operating system with a gas piston that keeps the nastiness out of the chamber and three huge lugs on the bolt instead of teeny AR ones. This is where it bests the SIG 556- the 556 has small lugs. I really like the XCR’s FAL/AR style of ergonomics-operating handle (w/ forward assist) on the left side of the receiver, sturdy Congo Para type folding stock. The magazine release and pistol grip are like an AR. The bolt release is a sweet, very intuitive new design. The weapon also comes standard with enough Picatinny rail space to satisfy any gear nut. Sights are not included. I haven’t added any BUIS yet; I’m happy with the Eotech 552 and laser that are on it now. Let me know if you’d like to see pics and I’ll post them.
Cheers!

Good to hear it XCRist...
Nice review too. I have had my eye on these since RA first annouced them. One question...is the there an issue with how low the stock sits? What I mean is when you are shooting do you rest your check on the stock or do you have to set your chin up there? From the limited amount of reviews I have read so far this is the only gripe.
Thanks....
And be sure whey you have enough post to show us some pics!

Hi OP:
The folding stock that came with the XCR feels just right when used with the EOTech that is mounted on my weapon. It provides a nice cheek weld area that's covered with thin, heavy-duty foam padding. The gentleman who wrote the review in SWAT magazine mentioned that he didn't like the stock; I don't agree with his assessment. To each his own.
Pics will be coming soon, I just need to receive a bipod I ordered.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

FAL style charging handle and bolt hold open is really neat.

I would like to see a picture of this rifle folded!
Received mine two weeks ago . I have only 80 bullets thru it----no malfunctions. It took 20 shots to site in the Yankee Hill folding sites. It is my favorite gun. It fits like a glove. Fit and finish is near perfect. Let me put a couple hundred more rounds thru it and I'll give more feedback.

Sights. These don't come with sights?
Sites are optional on the XCR. With the full length picatinny rail it allows the owner to customize with whatever optics or dots they want. The optional iron sites are folding Yankee Hill rail mounted sites. One could buy them direct from Yankee Hill if so desired. The sites allow cowitnessing with an eotech or aimpoint. My eotech is on order.
I now have 300 rounds thru the XCR. One problem has occured. I lost the gas plug retaining nut and lock washer. They got loose during break in and unscreewed themselves and fell off never to be seen again. The gun fully functions without the nut since the gas plug is held in place by the tension of the bolt spring. It could only fall out during disaasmbly as it did when I was cleaning it. I bought a nut at a hardware store and have ordered a replacement from Robarms. We will all need to check that this nut is tight and does not loosen up. Hey the thing works even when a nut unscrews itself.
I am very impressed with the XCR. No firing malfunctions at all. After I lost the nut, I found the sites loose. I applied locktite and they have been fine since. Since the sites don't come mounted, I blame myself for not using locktite from the get go. I've used four types of ammo ----- commercial and milsurp. I just bought some wolf and will try it out soon.
