Anybody have a STAG rifle? If so, how about a report. Do you like it? Does it shoot well? Is it reliable?

I've been waiting (really damn patiently) for a ROBARM XCR, or a SIG 556, but for a little more than half the price I could get one of these. My main guns are AK's and FAL's, and I just want another gun to take AR mags, so I'm not too concerned about the snob apeal of the XCR or the SIG (but I am CHEAP).

Fact is most of us own STAG (CMT) parts. CMT makes parts for many companies out there.

I know CMT make a lot of parts, I was looking for somebody that had the who (pardon the pun) "shootin' match" - complete rifle...

Meatball,
I replied earlier. I have a Stag M4 type upper on a pre ban OLY lower. At this time I have only run 200 rounds of frangible ammo through it as I have only been able to get to the indoor range. The Stag upper/rifle functions 100% and it's dead on at 50 ft. I might be able to get to the outdoor range this weekend.

Meatball,
I shot a Stag AR carbine that a newbie gunowner/ co worker recently bought. Stag lower (finish looks real nice) 16" upper,(finish was fair) and a crappy, off brand collapsable stock.(no cheek weld, and not a real, tight fit). We shot about 100+ rounds of Winchester whitebox, at our employers quarry. I consistantly hit a homemade swinging gong target the size of a silver dollar at around 40yds and soda cans at 100yds. No malfuctions at all. I was very impressed with it.Quite a bargain. Supposedly Stag supplies other companies, including Colt with lower receivers. I've seen stripped lowers here in Ct. for under $100!

crikets........................................... .................................................. ......................... it's been at least 30 days...

I'll bite - I have a stag lower because they are so cheap! Its great, but I am not the AR connoisseur. I have never had any misfeeds or issues. I have a busmaster AR upper on it, and have also ran my DPMS 22lr upper on it. Both work a-ok

I got a stag m4 upper...
The one that was $459 with the arms BUIS and bolt..
It looks just as good as my bushmasters, RRA or DPMS..
I havent shot it yet as Im putting together a DPMS lower PK with a Ametec lower and caught caught up with another build..But I will get some pics of it.
I almost started tonight but got pre occupied.

I have had the chance to shoot a few friends stag rifles, and they are some really nice ARs...
I woudnt hesitiate getting one...

My Stag rifle has been flawless. No FTF or FTE. Just didn't get around to posting.

Here is my rifle. Stag upper and stock on a preban lower receiver. Preban cause CT still has an AWB.

I don't get around much but here is my two cents, I built a AR with a Stag lower from AIM and Model One upper A2 style. It was suppost to have had a 5.56 chamber but all it would shoot half way well was US factory .223. That got expensive and old.

Just got a Stag M-4 flat top upper from AIM, now I have a great rifle. Looks good and it will ring the gong at 200 yrds. Of course I have to do my part with my 57 yr old eyes and peep sites. I am sold on Stag and any other AR additions will be Stag products.

Might add AIM is great to deal with, good prices and great service w/quick shipping.

Just bought a Stag M4 upper and I'm tryin to decide on which lower. Looking for no Cal. marking except maybe Multi. and a good color match to the upper as well as the cool logo factor or possibly engraving. Considering maybe a MEGA or Global Tactical and open to hear about others.

There's been one on Sturmgehwehr for awhile for $785--not a bad price. I have had two. My most recent one shoots great and and has very good fit and finish. It did, however, have a canted front sight and I sent her back and they swapped it out for a rail gas block at NO charge. Just a few wrench marks on the samson free float rail. I ordered mine with their proprietary muzzle bake, and it feels as if the rifle pulls AWAY from my shoulder when firing. Aftermarket goodies fit easily--MIAD grip, rail panels, Tango Down vertical foregrip and holosight and zeiss z point. I have a midwest industries front flip sight and standard arms #40 rear. They ship these out VERY quickly compared to other manufacturers and their PHONE service rocks! Apparently they make the S&W ARs as well as parts for other manufacturers. OKAY, accuracy report will come. These were my first ever ARs, and I had not fired one since 1991 in the reserves. I am very pleased. By the way, I have an XCR coming in next week My stag is a leftie. My wife really enjoyed shooting it as well. In my initial firing, I put radway green, norinco commercial and hornandy 40 gr. v max through and all performed flawlessly. The vmax goup was best but much lower than the others. Then the norinco, radway green was last. Actually, it may not be radway--I just bought it as british surp. It's light, handy, accurate at 25 yards (my indoor range limit--but they have a program that correlates your 25 yard group at 100 for every bullet weight and brand) and reasonable, and USA made. I recommend this rifle whole-heartedly so far!

I did not mean "okay accuracy"--accuracy seems VERY good! I just wrote the sentence funny.
