Here is a picture of my Swiss K 11 and bayonet.
bore is excellent and it is an excellent shooter.
The tag under the buttplate showed that the
carbine was assigned to a member of a sapper
unit. This unit would be in charge of blowing
roads and bridges should the Swiss be invaded.

The bayonet is an almost mint 1914 Pioneer.

Enjoy . David. :D

Very nice!

Tell us more about the K11. how is it different than the K31? Swiss rifles are very interesting!

The Swiss 1911 rifle and carbine were developed from
the 1889 Schmidt-Rubin design. The locking lugs were
at the rear of a long receiver. The mag capacity was 12 rounds
The action was relativly week and problems developed with the
standard cartridge. When a new improved cartridge was adopted the problems got worse.

The rifle was mod. in 1896 and issued as the 89/96. The locking
lugs were moved to the front of the bolt sleeve.

The 1911 was again strengthened and the muzzle velocity increased. The mag. capacity was reduced to 6 rounds.

The action is still longer than a K31.

The K 31 was a complete redesign of the 1911 and moved the
locking lugs to the front of the bolt and the bolt locks into the
reciever ring rather than the action. The action is shorter in the
K31. However the K11 and the K31 use the same ammo.

I got both the Carbine and the bayonet from a fellow collector who had two of the carbines. The carbine is very impressive
with the bayonet attached. David.
