I am currently gathering parts for my Saiga to do the AK conversion. I have the original single hook trigger group, but is a double hook better, or are there any advantages or disadvantages as to which to use? I need to buy either or, but which one will suit my rifle better? Or is there any real difference besides the single hook, or 2?

stay with the single hook variety unless you want to modify the receiver cut-out - they come with only one hook groove - at least my 7.62 and .223 rifles only have one. I have a .308 on the way, but I think it too only has one.

Further, there is no real advantage to a double hook IMHO - otherwise the Russians would use them in their Saigas.

A little history lesson about the double hook vs single hook.

I read here of course, that the double hook trigger was the old original milled version. The Chinese continued to use that style of trigger on their stamped rifles. The single hook is the modern up to date version.

I have been told by more than one AK builder and AK smith that the the double offers nothing more than a single hook.

And all my models of Saiga rifles and others I have seen only allow for single hooks triggers. So yes you will need to modify your receiver to use a double hook.
