Anyone know what bayonet will fit my M4? I know they all technically fit, but I'm looking for one that fits properly with the ring around the flash hider, and not the barrel. I think it has a longer handle than usual.
I appreciate any help.

I have to ask this since there's so many AR's out there that call themselves the M4. Any Milspec Bayo will fit an M-4 configured with a 14.5 barrel, carbine gas system, and flash hider. If you have a claimed M-4 with a 16" barrel and carbine gas system, which I belive you do if the ring is on the barrel, then you can get a Colt bayo specifically for it (it has a longer handle). If you have a 16" barrel with a mid-length gas system or a 20" barrel with a rifle gas system, then you're set. I've got an M-9 Sawback for my 16" mid-length and it sits just a bit too far forward but it's good enough to use if needed, though I can't honestly think of a use for a bayo as a bayo. I bought it as a knife.

Exactly, I have a "claimed" M4 with the 16" barrel and short gas system. You say there is a Colt bayo made for this? Any word on where to find one?

Thanks for your reply, it really cleared up what I was trying to say, and thanks for the help.

Me either. I just wanted one to complete the little collection of accessories that go with my rifle.

You'll have to search for the name and maker, but there is somebody that makes and extended handle M7 that will fit the 16 inch barrels.
Also, if you have some metalworking ability, because of the way the the M9 is made, you could use a longer tube between the blade and the end cap, and make some sort of handle extension from metal, wood, or plastic. The M9 is 4 pieces, the blade, the endcap, a tube that screws the two together, and the handle.

Best way to make a bayo fit would be to get a bolt on bayo lug and place it in the proper position My$.02

Or you could sell the weapon outright and replace it with one of the pinned phantom FH equipped 14.5" barrels from Bushmaster. You could also assemble one using a complete lower from your choice of manufacturers and a Sabre Defense upper which has a 14.5" chrome lined barrel with an extended A2 FH permenantly mounted.

Of course you could simply sell your current upper and replace it with either of the ones mentioned, but in my experience it's easier to sell a whole weapon than it is to sell a portion of it.
