This is old news, but RRA is picking up the Bushmaster line.

They re-engineered some parts so they'll be more durable. Expect to see them in the coming months.

Yea RRA has the LAR-10, it was supposed to come out this fall but due to setbacks and not wanting to release the weapon too soon just to get it on the market, they are taking a little more time to "prefect the product before it goes to market" And priced at $1,145 for the standard A2 model I cant see how you can go wrong. I just got there new catalog in the mail last week and yes I am ogling over it  . It looks like I'll be selling organs or blood soon :big:

Is there some reason you don't want an Armalite, that's what I have. You can also buy their Eagle Arms brand a little cheaper.

I actually would love one of the retro Armalite AR-10B's, but at $1,500. it's a little overpriced (by about $400.), the same goes for their whole line of 7.62X51MM AR type weapons. If you know who sells them at a competive price please LMK. The other thing is the cost of magazines for the Armalite is way out of line. The RRA LAR-10 takes FAL metric and inch magazines and they can be had for $5 ea.

Good for bushmaster, Its not that I dislike the 308 in a AR platform, its just the two Bushmaster bar10's Ive got to mess around with were complete headaches...
And for the cost, I like my rifles to work...

Im interested in the RRA for sure, I already see money leaving my wallet..... :gun:

Played with a DPMS 16" .308...

Slick, below cost of an M1a.

Only issue.

AR-10's have an AR mag

DPMS have a DPMS mag...

Why? The faster twist should stabilize the heavier bullets a little better.

I didn't pay that kind of money for mine. You can watch some other for sale forums, that's what I did.

Follow link to Rock River Arms the LAR-8 it's called and is evidently now avaliable if it being on the web site is any indicator. A4 flat top starting at $1,100 and the A2 with carry handle sights at $1150. With fancy quad rail forends and other trick items it'll be very easy to get over $1600 in one.

why not just buy a upper in 308 and use your lower if you have an AR already and get mags. I was told you can use a .223 5.56 lower for it just not the upper and mags. You would save a lot of money.

The Rock River .308s are actually not available yet. I hear very soon now that the dispute with Armalite is over and they have changed the name.

Unfortunately, what you were told is completely incorrect. :( While a .308 AR lower may LOOK the same, it is actually a good bit larger. A .308 cartridge by itself is longer than the standard AR15 mag well.

I think the dispute was over RRA's use of the reticle cross hair in their logo. Armalite employed a like design. I think RRA is chucking the logo and not the name.

Ahh, interesting. Wonder if that means the AR15 lowers are going to get a logo change as well.

Take a .308 round and shove it in any m16 magazine and get back to me.

Answer is the round is longer, wider and just will NOT fit in the M16's envelope. M700's observation that the info told to you was incorrect is CORRECT. The Lar-8 is going to use inexpensive FN FAL magazines of metric type and in theory can also use the more expensive Inch pattern mags should one own them already. I have about 60+ FAL mags so this type of weapon interests me quiet a bit. Now if they'd just put a gas piston on it!

I bought used Armalite uppers and then bought their Eagle Arms brand stripped lowers and put it together myself. Just doesn't have the lifetime factory warranty.

As to using an AR15 lower, that's what my 50BMG upper can do, but it's a single shot and doesn't have a mag at all. I went with the BOHICA upper, I just love the name and the price too. You can put together a single shot 50BMG with an AR15 lower for what the 308 semi platform will set you back.
