Sounds nice, but I have heard alot about saiga mags made of unobtainium. Until I see dollar signs and numbers associated with after market saiga mags, I will not be holding my breath. Somehow mr murphy or some atf type will intervene. Just wait.

Tony Tromix is involved in this venture,he has done some very inventive items for Saigas.

And how specifically will ATF do anything about aftermarket mags?

By stopping the further importation of saigas. They can even order the recall of existing saigas. They did that with chinese dragonovs a few years back you know. Sadly they can do whatever they feel like. I have just been promised and let down a few times to many.

Quote from the Saiga thread!

"The ATF does not care about these. If they were going to raise issue with the import of them they would have when they looked at Tromix's conversions when all the shotguns had to go back for the break issue. A domestic made mag is not going to raise any concerns with them at all. It does not have anything to do with the import of them, or their sporting suitability before they come into the country".

Thanks recon I was just about to do the same thing.

Do you invest in tinfoil hats?If the ATF was concerned with the domestic made mags then why would Pro mag make hi caps for AK rifles?Yes we do have imported AK's Armory USA brings them in with 922r compliance parts.

If the ATF comes to your house because their satalite was able to read your thoughts and knew that you had a rifle and US made magazine that may or may not throw you into a complaince issue, you are on their radar screens for a lot bigger reasons than that.

And the reason they recalled the Chinese SVD's had NOTHING to do with the magazines. It was the safety sear that the ATF ruled as an auto sear. IIRC, all the owners got theirs back once the sear was removed.

It is things on the outside of our borders that affect the importation of these, not what we do here. Tromix has made some guns that would throw the antis into heart failure. The ATF has seen them and not even blinked at it. Making a 20rd mag for a rifle will not throw it into the DD catagory like making a 16rd stagered box magazine for the 12ga might (not that I have considered a project like that....) and it will not stop the importation of the guns, let alone a recall of them because a magazine exists.

Is there any solid, or even semi flacid case law that would lead to someone reaching these conclusions? Either way it wont stop the construction of the magazines. It would take about a $65,000 pay off to stop it now.
