Was just wondering if anyone else besides me uses the 1911 style grip on there AR ? I know the purists wont like it but it feels just right for me. That little plastic grip it comes with just does not fit me. I am alone here with the bubba grip ? :)

Looks good...
As long as it works for you, that’s all that matter…

I beleive 308 uses a 1911 style grip. His lacks the Hogue wrap around though.

Interesting. I have a grip I took off a Colt Defender that may work.

I'd imagine it's great if you're a diehard 1911 man. Don't know if I'd put a set of ivory slabs on there though!

Fuck 'em, it's YOUR rifle.

And speaking of your rifle...... what upper and lower are you using? The reason I ask is because the lower looks to have the earlier style rear reinforcements, and the upper's extended FH on a short barrel looks oh-so right.

NICE!

It's an Oly CAR-15 preban with no mods, just the way it came only thing added was goosneck scope mount and grip gapper and Pierce grip 1911 addapter. Snaged the whole thing for $700.-. The prev. owner had a crap mag and it would jam on him :) It has the SS haevy barrel and all the evil stuff.

Now that I look at it again (and after my coffee) I recognize the old "commando" flash hider which seem to have become less and less common with the "M4" craze. I had an old PWA pre-ban exactly like it back in the day.....

Did you refinish that gun or have you just kept it that pristine?

Its only had about 200 rounds through it, 50 by old owner and about 150 by me. Had it about 4 years and did not have much of a chance to shoot it. But this summer I will. The thing is just like brand new.

Hehe, I am into electronics and computers and a Ham operator to. Even worked in electronics before I go a job in aviation that lasted 30 years. Wife worked as an electronics technician for 15 years. You acumulate a lot of stuff that way and it comes in handy even working on guns :)

The commando type set up can be the ticket for light weight when you use a pencil thin barrel. Now if someone would make an alluminum commado flashhider, I'build a new upper just for it!
