M-39 FRONT SITE. Do the dots in a circle around the screw on the front site equate into some form of measurment? I think it is for windage, and if so, what is the units. One click or DOT equals how much distance, the rounds will move??? I fired my M-39 with Russian 7.62x54R in a bench and the rounds were not very well grouped. One group would be an inch @ 100 meters. The next would group two at an inch to an inch and a half, with one stray at two inches. I was breathing properly, a trigger squeeze was steady. The weapon was secure and I was taking one shot every 5-6 seconds after I cycled the weapon. Is this ammo OK? It has an 80 on the headstamp. It is pretty warm, it really puts the spirit in my M-44. The barrel on the 39 is a prestine "B" barrel with NO rust OR pitting. It looks brand new. The rifling is very sharp and crisp. I am thinking that the ammo had some inconsistant rounds. Other than the rounds not grouping tightly this weapon is a gem. I really like the barrel, it has that Bronze color to it. Thanks 8dDUCE.

Ya got me on this one. I don't know how much windage these represent.

On surplus 54R ammo, remeber it's people killing steel jacketed and steel cased ammo. It's not ment for MOA performance. What you are talking about is still very good IMO.

Yeah, I guess I was alittle hard on the weapon. I am aware of the accuracy of MIL-SPEC ammo, I was hoping that this weapon could shoot better due to the barrel. But I think the ammo is too mass produced to do the weapon justice. This stuff is probably 10-20 years old to boot. Thanks though. If this stumped you, then I am on a mission to find out. I think I will call Dennis at Empire Arms, they are about 30 minutes away. Dennis is a Mosin Nagant Nut. Thanks again. 8dDUCE.

Centerfire Systems has new production 'match' ammo for $59/500 plus shipping about $15 probably.
