Got my first order from AIM today, I ordered 2 M48's , excellent condition, and they sent 2 M48A's Very Good condition....granted, they only charged for the the VG..not the EX M48's but that is not the point..I ordered one thing and recieved annother..has anyone had any experience like this with AIM, and does anyone know how they are about things like this, as far as returning and getting the correct order, etc..The M48A's are nice, except one has a very loose sight hood...but again they are not what I wanted....I hope the Turks I ordered from Century are the corredt ones!!!..I would consider keeping the M48A's except that I can't really justify keeping these and then ordering 2 more of the M48's...advice? comments?...course I could keep the better of the two of these, and return one for a M48 and have one of each..HMMMMM options....

I would call Aim in the morning. They probally ran out of Ex M48's and subsituted with the VG M48A's.
If you aren't happy with them then send them back.
The basic differance between the models is that the M48A has a stamped floorplate instead of a milled one.
Keep us posted on what you decide....

AIM has never had, at least not recently, M48 but all M48A's. These are the ones they were selling Ex Cond for 109.00 and VG for $89.00

Yugoslavian Model 48 Mauser
Absolutely gorgeous, excellent condition 8mm Rifles at the lowest price ever! We just bought a small quality that include a bayonet and scabbard. We guarantee bolt and receiver to have matching serial numbers. EXCELLENT CONDITION ONLY $109.95EA! INCLUDE BAYONET AND SCABBARD ONLY.
Price: $109.95 (Excluding: OH State Sales Tax at 5.5%)
Here is the ad that AIM has on their websight, I don't see any ads for M48A's at all...I was charged $99.95 for a rifle that wasen't even listed as for sale....I will call them in the morning and see what they have to say....I simply want what I paid for, nothing more, nothing less. I have spoke with them several times and from what I can tell there should be no trouble, they seem quite easy to deal with....

Fishman,
AIM only has 48A's despite what the ad says. Do you even know the difference between a 48 and 48A besides the "A"? Not trying to be a smartass but the difference is minimal. The actions are identical. Mostly the difference is in the stamped metal floor plates vs. a milled floor plate. Most of the 48A's I've seen are in better condition than the 48's. That includes bores too! If you want a better chance at a good shooting 8 mm then the 48A's are a safer bet.
Sight hood loose you say, well take it off give it a squeeze and then put it back on. It ain't rocket science!

I know it ain't rocket science, its rifle science!...Thats why I asked you...I do know the difference between the two guns, however, I did not know that the 48A's were perhaps better shooters, better condition overall, I re-looked at the guns today and they really are in VG+ condition, shining bores, smooth actions, 98% blueing, no cracked or broken stocks, a couple of ">dings< here and there but certainly not anything major./...I did call aim and they were very helpful and understanding...the bayonets are in great shape...no cracked or broken handles, blades are a dark black finish, no broken tips, gouges etc...I will wait untill AIM gets the "excellent" condition ones in again, order one of those for a "trophy" gun and as I have decided to do in keeping with the great american tradition, I am keeping what I diden't want, and ordering a Russian 44 in wrapper to boot...I really need to see someone about this..I will be in the bread lines if I keep this up!
Thanks for your help with the sight, when you don;t know, its always better to ask, even if the questions is a bit basic.
Bottom line is these are good guns by any standard, although, they are literally soaked in cosmo...
