I went ahead and ordered another of these laminate M44's for my collection. The laminate stocks look great after alot of work sanding them down and restaining.

Anyway, it showed up today.

These are supposed to be very good condition they are good at best. The blue is there, about 85% but the stocks suck, lots of scratches and dings. The bolt didn't match either and I requested a matching bolt. I told them up front I didn't want it if the bolt didn't match. The bore has some severe pitting in the center. The rest of the bore is mirror. It pisses me off or I might have went ahead and kept it since the date on the rifle is 1944, so it's an early one. My other laminates are 1945 dated.

Also: THERE'S NO FRIKING CLEANING ROD!!! ARRRRGH !!!
VG SHOULD INCLUDE A DAMN ROD! I HATE IT WHEN THESE THINGS COME WITHOUT A ROD THE DAMN RIFLE LOOKS NAKED OR SOMETHING WITHOUT ONE.

I called them about returning it and asked about the frikin rod and they said none of them had them. Anyway, they're easy enough to return stuff to, just ticks me off they call these things very good, assure me a matching bolt and then send me this POS. Now I'm out the return shipping and the replacement will probably show when I'm not home like I was today.

GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME PEOPLE!

I'm beginning to suspect all these distributors are sending out dregs because they think people are hard up for guns. I got plenty of guns people; I wan't something in the condition stated.

AND I WANT A %$##& ROD!

PS- the rifle I got was no better than the three I got months ago when they had their $29 blow out sale. They want $59.95 for these. I'd pass if I were you.

PSS- they said they have more in wrap rifles on the way. Much better choice IMO and only $10 more.

PSSS- THE IN WRAP ONES WILL HAVE CLEANING RODS!!!

PSSSS- YES I KNOW TAPCO SELLS RODS I WANT ONE WITH MY ^&%$#$## RIFLE NOT FROM TAPCO.

PSSSSS- DAMN I HATE IT WHEN I DONT GET A &%$#@ ROD

PSSSSSS- I BET CENTURY SOLD ALL THE RODS TO TAPCO BEFORE THEY SOLD THE RIFLES TO AIM. AIIIIIIEEEEERRRRRGHHHH

Sorry to hear about the *&^%$%$#$ cleaning rod missing...(chuckle,giggle ahem).....Real sorry (sound of suppressed guffaw/wiping smirk off face)....
Bummer about the condition,HATE when advertised as VG,ex OR LIKE NEW and they are G at best......I don't hesitate anymore to send the shit back...Of course we shouldn't have to,and from AIM,I'm surprised,so I guess they ALL do it,when it comes to scraping the barrel....

Dear Redstar-Sorry to hear!I bought one of the in the wrap M-44's awhile back and it is sweet!Just received a laminated M-44 with $10.00 hand-select and it was nice, save for the loose front sight globe. The wood was pretty much ding free, the bluing was close to 100% and the overall condition was excellent to like new!The ONLY reasons I sent it back are because it only costs $8.00,AIM said that they would find a better one,I already have all of the accoutrements for it and they have always done me right in the past.AIM supposedly got a huge shipment of these,so I think if you send one back and work with them, you'll get a nicer one! That plus the fact that the laminated ones are supposedly rarer than the nonlaminates. Will keep you posted on the replacement. My .02 worth:)-Gearhead.

Sounds good gearhead, I guess this way I'll get the handselect as well now since Chris said he'd pick one out for me as a replacement. I still say AIM is the best distributor out there.

I really would have liked to keep this one since it is 1944. And you're right, the laminates are more rare.

Did yours have a rod?

Dear Sir-I knew that they were lacking,so I ordered one from ,you guessed it,TAPCO!:)Pretty nice though!A little acetone, steel wool and cold bluing fixed her right up!Got a sling from Rick Reich and a Pachymer Slip-On Recoil Pad from Wally World.Just need a rifle now!BTW,the small M/N cleaning kit bags I got from TAPCO are like new.Chris listened to all of my input concerning the last rifle and I think he will follow through.OTS,but after I read some posts about bore-pitting in the $250.00 IO Yugo SKS's,I decided to order the brand new one.Turns out that these Yugo SKS's are NOT chrome lined. My dollars worth:)-Gearhead.

I think you did right on the new SKS. The quality is there for sure.

If you didn't notice, my pet peeve is missing cleaning rods. I always get rifles without the darn rod. I ordered a few of the M44 rods from Tapco awhile back and have an extra one but my point is that if the rifle is graded VG it should have a rod IMO.

Let us know how the M44 and Yugo 59/66 turn out.
