Hi, fellow 10/22 fans. I am a lifelong shooter, general gun enthusiast and devoted rat shooter. The .22 has always been my favorite though I have owned many other items over the years. There are a few things in life more pleasurable than plain simple plinkling, but only a few. My current .22s include an early Ruger 10/22 Sporter (fingergroove model). In the late 1960s I bought a standard carbine, for rat shooting expeditions with my college buddies. One of the other guys bought the "Sporter" version of the day, fingergroove/Monte Carlo stock. I found I could hit better with his than my own, something about the fit. So in time, when the opportunity arose, I acquired one of my own, at a police auction no less, for a mere $40. That was sometime in the early to mid-1970s. What a GREAT little .22, it is one of a very few guns I have that I will never let go of.

Welcome to the group !!!

Hard to believe there are many shooters who consider the .22 to be beneath them. They are missing out on a lot of inexpensive fun. I am a fan of the 10/22 myself, with this guy being one of my favorites:

I also have a couple of others that I did a few mods to as about everybody does, but nothing like the above bullpup, which under all that plastic is still a very accurate 10/22.

Another of my favorites is the Marlin 60, with a seemingly bottomless tube.

That is a lovely one. Imanaknut's, well, to each his own, but that one is a little racy for my tastes. My 10/22 is unadorned. For a while, however, I did have a folding stock that I occasionaly swapped out for the original, and I still have some hi-cap mags. I prefer it simple and largely as is. But it is truly AMAZING how much can be done with a 10/22. Never ceases to amaze me. it,

I consider the 10/22 to be the rimfire equivalent of the AR15. It's modularity (if that isn't a real word, it is now :nanaboo: ) makes it appealing to plinkers and accuracy freaks alike.

The 10/22 fits the definition of a successful design.
