Well, other M44's are around $39 on up to the reconditioned in wrapped versions, like new, for just $69.00. Prices even higher. Not Chinese though. I don't have the specific answer to your question, but take a look at the C&R list above. There are over 40 dealers listed now.

The Chinese type 53 carbine (M44) goes for around $75 in VG to excellent condition. They are not C&R like all the other countries' M44's. Go figure.

I just threw that in there for the heck of it.
I don't know why; I don't run around calling the Chicom SKS the Type 56, I just call it the SKS.

this would increase the price. Also, most you see are non matched and in ratty shape with very poor bores. If you find an all matching, VG condition with a good or better bore, be ready to pay extra. I ahve never paid under $125 for one, but all the ones I have had are in at least VG condition with matching numbers and pristine bores, and all are non imports.
If you find one with no import mark, it would almost have to be a bring back. I believe the Feds started using import marks in the 1960's. If I am incorrect I am sure someone will correct me.
Grab it if it is nice, they are tough to find.
