Just saw an ad for an AK-103 at http://www.Gunsamerica.com
Seems a bit pricy but it does come with a kobra sight.

Let a few more of them come into the country (bans allowing) I am sure they will drop in price.

This is the exact same gun everyone has been talking about for 3 weeks now. Its a Saiga.

I bought one of the ak-103's from Brad Williams of William and sons arms inc. this past weekend at the orlando gun show, he has a website www.williamsandsonarms.com. (http://www.williamsandsonarms.com.) I took it to the range sunday, the first 100 rds went fine, then it started jamming with wolf hollow points and twice went full auto with a three and then five shot burst, changed over to fmj and it ate up another 90 rounds with no trouble. I'm going to clean her up and take it the range again, if I get the same results I guess I will have to call Brad or let my gunsmith look at it.

Lone wolf,
Thanks for the report, keep us informed.
I was thinking I might want to have one of these beasts, but not if it isn't reliable.

There are two "official" versuions of these, both built on KUSA Saiga receivers, both built in the USA. The first ones were produced by Krebs and they were in the $600 dollar range, very high quality and good reviews, he is known for his expert pistolsmithing, and takes every rifle he builds personally. The newer models are built in Florida by someone named Don --, I am sorry, I do not know the last name, someone can help me out. These are more assembly line quality and are for that reason cheaper priced. Both versions use a lot of US derived parts to be considered US rifles. Niether uses complete Russian AK-103 specific parts. They say the Krebs version uses a US copy of the gas block that is almost exact to the Russian example, I have not seen one so you guys need to let me know what you think.

Hi Tantal, not the best photo, but here is a picture of the Kreb's gas block on the 104 style AK. If this a US made gas block, they did a mighty fine job. I never would have known. Even the cleaning rod cut out is underneath, as clean as can be. I'll try and post a better pic later.
BTW, the silver rings are just the sun's reflection. The finish is as black as can be. cya

is it possible to just purchase the sight block only? If so, I'd be interested in buying one.

NEW INFO...
Today, I BOUGHT an AK-103 from Williams & Son Arms in FL. Their number is (407) 682-3579. My TOTAL cost, with 3 day FEDEX shipping & insurance: $515. Rifle is 7.62x39, normal AK barrel length.
This is the AK103 mfg by DGS - the people that are actually MAKING this rifle from Siaga's. It comes by itself - no Cobra, no hi cap mags. Takes High Caps, and has a welded US 74 style brake. Most of us already HAVE mags & Kobras... so the message is: there is NO "padding" on the product http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif
These folks are GREAT to deal with... they will take VISA right over the phone. I suggest you get moving if you want one: I got the last one at $495 - you will pay about $20 more. He has THREE left in his latest shipment.
A note on Kalashnikov USA... they don't have product. These people DO, as they seem to have a long standing relationship with DGS.
If you have the money, MOVE NOW.... this is your chance for an AK that is as close to Mother Russia as you are gonna get http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif

Yes they are most definetly nice if I hadnt just purchased my Chi AKM (no regrets of course!) I would go pick one up. Unfortunately it will take a little while to recover http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif. Maybe they will be around in a month or so! Plus I still need to get that Kobra site for my SLR!

You can get the site block -- check either K-VAR or AA-ok.com for the "AIM/AKM CARBINE/Krinkov Sight Block" -- though I'm thinking it comes with the Gas Block -- one whole piece -- $50-$80 -- depending on which site

Any word on a.223 or 5.45 variant? They have been supposed to be producing the regular Siaga in these calibers for a year now but I have yet to see one.
