What M39 os generally more accurate? I sold my drum and a 10/22 mag and I am looking to buy a like new m39.

My understanding is that all M-39's were required to meet certain accuracy requirements or the Finns tossed them. I've not heard any particular variant, ie., "B" Barrel, Sako, etc. having a claim to greater accuracy. Maybe an M-39 Sniper?

I've just heard that the Sneaks were built for competition shooting and have better triggers.

My M39 is a gloriously accurate piece. It is a VKT, and the trigger pull could NOT be any better.
Here's a pic of a target from 100 yards out with iron sights. (the sites do suck BTW)

Here's 50 yards...
Just to add to Redstar's comment...
The sneak I just bought has the most awesom trigger I've ever seen on a military bolt-gun.
Looking forward to taking it to the range on friday

The Finns required all M39 rifles to shoot under 1 1/2" at 100 yards with military ball ammo or they were not entered into service. The Sneaks were built primarily for marksmanship training of the Officer Corps Cadets. There are no reliable explanations for the variation in trigger quality between one rifle and the next. Out of the 10 M39s that I have no two are alike. My best is a 1941 VKT that breaks at an even 3 lbs. All of my rifles are very accurate and not a single trigger pull over 4 1/2 lbs.

Hey Gonzo welcome to the board! If you have the ability, lets see some pics of those bad boys! I love M39's. After the dust settles from Xmas I'm going to pick up another mint one.

Thanks for the welcome. I love collecting C&Rs, especially the MN, and really enjoy exchanging knowledge and info with others who feel the same. Unfortunately I do not have picture capability yet ( hopefully Mrs. Claus will bring my digital camera this year ) but here is a list of my M39 collection to date.
1. 1942 B Barrel Mint.
2. 1942 SKy 95%
3. 1969 Sneak Mint ( I believe this one to be a one of a kind, it has a PLUM colored barrel with a VKT firing proof meaning that this rifle most likely was built from a left over B barrel ).
4. 1970 Sneak Mint.
5. 1941 VKT wartime stock, Mint with Hangtag.
6. 1942 VKT Straight stock, Mint.
7. 1944 VKT postwar stock, Mint.
8. 1941 Sako Straight stock, Mint with Hangtag.
9. 1942 Sako wartime Sako stock, 90%.
10. 1943 Sako postwar stock, 99% with salvage receiver ( light surface pitting under the arsenal reblue ) and Hangtag.
Well there you have it. The Finn guns are all wonderfull rifles that make great collectibles. They have low production numbers, most are in excellent condition and they have a very interesting history. Only problem is nobody can stop at one.
