As many know I sent Century back the first one I got because the barrel was rusted. This one is alot better. Better blueing (85%), better barrel (no rust, still filthy after several patches but looks like it will be OK as far as pits go, a tad dark).

Here's something interesting. The one I sent back had the standard military stock but it's cutdown so you dont have any of the top handguard.

This one has a handcarved teak Monte carlo style sporter stock on it. The carving and checkering is obviously done by hand and a cheek rest has been carved out. It's really neat looking. Not super machine quality but a very high degree of hand carving. I really like it alot. Very unique for the collector who has alot. Here's the kicker. It looks to me like they carved this from a military stock because there's a plug where the normal stocks have a sling slot in the buttstock. I need to inspect it closer to tell for sure if it's a M48 stock or not.

I wish I had a camera. Maybe the fellow members will chip in and buy me a digital for Xmas??? Haahaahaaaahaah. Sorry.

Neat rifle for $59 shipped. Light. If I hunted anymore, I'd take this out in the brush. I can't wait to see if it shoots straight.

BTW matching numbers this time, last time the dang bolt didn't match.

I am glad you got a good one this time! Any word on the K98?

Yep, the checkering and cheek rest were carved into a regular M48 stock. The carving of the cheek rest must have taken out the serial numbers. The plug is exactly where the sling slot is on the M48 as well as the stock bolt. I like handcarved stuff, especially when care was taken.

Zouave, no they credited my card for the K98 doesn't look like I'll be getting one them anytime soon. I'm knee deep in guns I need to clean, work on, shoot, etc. I need to step back and enjoy what I have for awhile, unless something really exciting comes up!
