Ok, so I've had this puppy for a few days and I've noticed some things that I'm curious about

On the leather sling there is a marking SA... that doesn't mean what I think it means does it? ("SA"ko?)

Aslo, why are there 2 sets of sling rings? one of the left side of the gun, one of the bottom.

What is the "t" cross on the forward edge of the magazne floorplate (in front of the hinge, in front of the screw)

Where can I get a bayonet for this puppy... I can tell from slight wear on the muzzle that this one used to wear one, and it might be neat.

on the left side of the barrel just before rear dight block, there's a number 3600 does this mean anything (its not related to the SN)

Hex reciever just for those who are curious and the bolt has the tula proof

...and an "8-ball" or (8) (circle around an 8) on the underside of the bolt near the handel. I know circle 10 is bulgaria, but what the hell is circle 8???

And what I think is just the coolest shit since sliced bread, on the bottom side of the rear sight is the graduations out to 2000M!

looking forward to friday when this puppy goes to the range

Hey Czar;
I can answer a couple of your questions. The "SA" on your sling just means Finnish Army. An original bayonet would cost you about 6 times what you likely paid for the reifle! Well, OK maybe only three times! They are very rare and go for around $300 however, IO is selling a pretty darned good reporduction for around $60 IIRC. The 36 00 marking is a proof mark, indication the pressure it was proffed at by the Finns. I don't understand your question about the "t" cross and I don't know what "circle 8" might mean either.

TrooperDan,
Welcome to the forums. I see you are a fellow North Carolinian. I'm in Raleigh area how about you?

CZAR,
The 3600 refers to atmospheres of pressure that translates to 50,000 psi more or less.

The T and the circle 8 are probably inspectors marks. I have the T thing on my rifles floor plate (an M39 B barrel) also.

TrooperDan is also correct about the SA meaning Finish Army. Inter Ordnance does make an nice repo bayonet, I have one and they are effectively the only game in town for the M39 Fin. On the two set's of sling swivels the answer is obvious. Do you want to carry the rifle over your shoulder or sling it across your back? ;)

Thanks for the replys!

That sucks about the bayonet, I guess I'll hold off for a bit...

This is one of the things I love about these C&R's... learning the history that went into them... especially the m39...

I love them almost more than my makarovs... but in the end I love all my kids equally :)
