I talked to one of the places in Florida that was selling the AK-103 for $425 and the one that advertises in shotgun news for $495 (kalashnakov usa?) and they both said that that Russian ak will not be effected by the ban. One of them stated that because the gun was imported as a whole rifle it was not banned. This doesn't make sense, but maybe the saiga has never been banned so it's reciever and barrel etc. would not be on the list of banned gun parts? If there was a chance that these were effected I can't imagine that they would deny it as it would only help thier sales. Anyone have any info or insight?

NOW people might understand why I predicted the AK103 would be the "SAR" of 2001....

The Saiga was designed to get around US "bans". And, it appears that the current administration, while doing an under the table deal with the Russians to prevent "nasty" Russian guns from being exported to the US, ACCEPTED the Saiga design as "politcally correct"... so, the Saiga's got in, and will KEEP getting in - unless the US wants real trade trouble with Russia.

ONCE HERE - all that has to be followed is current US law: 10 or less forign parts, no threaded muzzels, etc... and BINGO - we have a REAL AK.

So - get out there and BUY that AK103... in an act of incredible stupidity, Billy has made the REAL AK a more attractive alternative than those Romanian guns http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif Be sure to show him how much you appreciate this http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif

Of course not 10rd complete rifles are legal to import as long as they have no nasty features. Just convert them in country and put some US parts in and you basically have the SAR2001! Hopefully these Siaga guns will diversify in calibers and dip in price because I would most certainly like to have a couple!

You guys might have something here. Makes sense as long as they don`t change things more to screw this up to! This could be the next craze!

Even this early in the game and during a "ban" the guns are not that spendy. If you get 5 or more they are only $400. This is witht he muzzlebrake and black Bulgarian type stock. I don't think you could make a Romanian like that for $400. They are supposed to come out with the .223 in about two months. I haven't heard anything about a 5.45x39 yet.
