Who has a Russian Legend?

Tennessee Guns & Aimsurplus have the Milled recevier Russian Legend for about $500.

Is this a good AK for the money?
How good is Tennessee Guns & Aimsurplus reputation?

Thanks

I'm interested in the same thing. Can you put polymer furniture on these?

They are new Bulgarian receivers with used Hungarian parts. Some of the used parts are not in great condition. They were built by various shops including Gordon Tech and MSC. If you are getting one ask for one built by either of these two shops, they do excellent work.

I have dealt with AIM surplus, and have had a good experience every time.

I believe they have foreign stocks on them so you can put either a foreign polymer stock or a US made on one.

Thanks for the info and quick response. Any suggestions on a "better" place to buy one of higher quality?

I have one and love it! It was built by Blue Ridge Precision, and the all of the used parts were in excellent shape, and had matching numbers. I got mine from Classic Arms. You can contact Blue Ridge at www.brprecision.com (http://www.brprecision.com)

You could always order a new milled Bulgarian Receiver, a new Bulgarian Milled parts kit from KVAR, US polymer stock set from KVAR, US gas piston and send it off to infomer or Gordon Technologies to have it built. This way you get a completely new gun, with original Bulgarian fire control group, built by a competent gunsmith.

I second that recommendation on the BlueRidge SLR100. Got mine from ClassicArms at a gun show, and it is perfect. Matching numbers parts kit, little wear, new milled receiver, great finish, wood, etc... I recommend one, if its anywhere as nice as the one I got, you can't go wrong.

I wasn't able to fins the SLR100 on their site (classic arms). I was looking at the milled US/Bulgarian one. Does anyone know if it would be ok to switch out with composite stocks and is it OK to use totally foriegn mags?

Appreciate the info, you guys are an awesome resource.

Does anyone have any info on the Hesse Arms AK's? These look like everything that I'm looking for, newer stuff, but I'm not sure if its legal to take the foriegn mags. Please let me know...

Thanks Again,

Erik.

The "BULGARIAN MILLED RECEIVER w/ US PARTS" Ak47 listed for $479 is a SLR100. The SLR100 is assembled by different vendors. I picked up a BlueRidge SLR100 from Classic at a gunshow, and it is perfect. The quality will vary between vendors.

Do you know if I can specifically ask for one made by BlueRidge? If so, I might give them a call on monday, as that seems like a fair price. How is it to shoot?

Thanks again,
Erik

And what accessories did it come with?

Ugh, how much would having one built like you suggested cost?

Krept,

New Milled Receiver - $159 after FFL fees
New KVAR parts kit with US Polymer furniture - $300
US Gas piston and brake - $35

Assembly costs vary from shop to shop.

Best to talk to the different shops to find out their costs. Some will even order all the parts for you so you don't have to worry about getting them all them shipping them out.

I just picked up one made by MSC and I couldn't be any happier with it. It looks great and works perfectly. By far the best of any AK I've owned. I know that Gordon Tech and Blue Ridge get rave reviews on here too. If anyone is considering buying a preban I would get one of these rifles and save some money.

CDNN has Gordon Tech SLR-100`s. Just ask for them and I think the price is around $490 give or take.

I picked up a Gordon Tech SLR-100 today at the local dealer for $500.00. He had four of them, all looked great, only minor variations in the wood. He also had some from Blue Ridge precision. He showed me one that the front sight was about 5 degrees tilted to the right. Other than that it looked great. Too bad they weren't a little more careful. He told me he had seen a lot like that.
