who makes SR-25's. and what is the general use of them? is it simply long range rifle with a capability of being suppresed? as some of you know im looking for a long range rifle like the Remington m700 or equivalent. i pretty much posted in the wrong forum last time... so are Sr-25's even available to the public? a friend of mine told me i could order a real M40 from a different country and have it imported in. i dont know how true that is but the guy that told me is ex military.and how much would that cost?$$$$$$$ probably alot. thanks

The SR-25 is made by a company called Knights Armament Corporation. Yes they are available to civilians.....just be prepared to pay for it. Prices start around $3200 and go up to about $8000. They were designed to be exactly what they look like.....a precision semi auto .308 with a removable magazine. The US Navy, US Army, USMC, and IDF all use a version of this rifle called the Mk11 in a precision role that can be equipped with a sound suppressor.

As far as the M40 goes.....I assume you are referring to a USMC M40A1/A3 bolt action. No....real ones can NOT be imported from another country since all are built here in the US by Marine Corp armorers. None are legally available on the civilian market. If you are interested in building a correct clone of one, I highly recommend contacting George Gardner at GA Precision and having him build one for you. Again....be prepared to pay for it. A correct clone would cost somewhere in the $4000 range without the optic.
