my ffl buddy has one so i went over there to look at it.
its wood, messed up by somebody, but is saveable.
non import, vet bring back ?
dou ? duo ? one of those, 43. it has the nazi marks on it
all matching but the floor plate
needs to be cleaned up, but about 95+% blue.
pretty cool. i begged him to sell it to me. but he has money so he didn't want to sell it
i still don't know enough about the yugo's to deside which one to get :(
one question though. on the M48 yugo's with the rear sight covered with wood. can that same wood be cut down to look like the K98 ? you know, so it doesn't go up by the sight.

JES,
Call Century. The rumor is that the K98's are back in stock. Don't cut up a M48.....

i could get a K98K and hope for the best . or get a m48 new and cut the handguard down to look like the k98k. but i like the laminate more. but the new blueing is really atractive. + who knows what the bore is going to look like used
it REALLY SUCKS trying to deside what you want when you haven't seen it .

No you can't cut down an M48 handguard and make it look like a K98k. And here are reasons why.
1. The handguards are built differnently and you will probalby have too much slop under the handguard at that point.
2. Next, the stocks are not identical. There is no scooped out relief area under the bolt knob.
3. Most M48 stocks are beefier than K98k's, especially in the wrist.
4. Lastly the M48's have a flat bottomed bolt handle, (that's why the stocks are not scooped out) and a K98k has a full round ball shaped knob.
Something you can't see is that the receiver is about 1/8th inch shorter. Please do not rape the M48 piece of history!  If you want a German K98k the cheapest way is to get a Yugo reworked one. Except for the Yugo crest they look right because that's what the are K98k's.

yeah, i don't think i will get a m48. feel better now :D
the add says that the barrel, bolt and floor plate are the only matching #'s. do the barrels have a # on it ? i'm thinking that they really mean the reciever ?

1. Try interordnance. If you just want a mauser you can get a Turk or Persian. I am looking at one of these next. I have the M-48 and K-98 as well as a Spanish 7mm. Beautiful weapons with much history. Shop around.

If you want a matching K98K they go for about $500-$700. I have two of them a BNZ/44 and a 147/39. I bought them about ten years ago for $100 or $150 each I don't remember. The BNZ I never shot and doesn't appear to have ever been used and will probably sell it eventually but the 147(JP Sauer) I used to shoot all of the time till I found out the value. Now when I fell like shooting a K98 I shoot a remake Pred.44. Shoots and looks identical to the originals except no German acceptance stamps.
