I always get confused on this and I would like to know for sure what ones are C&R pistols.:confused:

Makarov, pistol, Russian and East German, caliber 9mm Makarov.
:cool:
I heard a rumor (or maybe not) about mak rounds going right through kevlar vests or something. Any truth to this?

Not unless the shootee is wearing a t-shirt.
There is another pistol called the PSM...super thin pistol that fires the 5.45x18 necked cartridge...

I have handled them in Russia but I have never had the opportunity to fire one. I know that they no where come near to making points for importation into the USA. But, you can buy them in Germany from Frankonia.

A friend told me recently that he had seen on the C&R listserver that Bulgarians had just been added. Can anyone else verify that?

No. But do you think BATF keeps their listing up to date? I don't know. My post above is a cut and paste directly from BATF's curio and relic list.

Not this whimpy caliber! :rolleyes:
OTOH a CZ52 in 7.62 X 25 will zip through Class III body armor because the bullet is small, FMJ and going about 1700 fps. :eek:
I asked my friend who told me the Bulgarians were added for the source. He had gotten a link from the C&R listserver. It was a letter on the ATF site listing a few new additions to the list. If true, it will probably take a while for the web page with the main list to be updated and until that happens dealers probably won't know either. I asked him to try and find the link again and if he can I'll post it here.

Huh? If a .380 will go through something, so will the Mak, if a standard 9mm will puncture something, the Mak will go through most of it but not always.
.380=9x17 (or 16, I donb't recall)
Makarov=9x18
9mm Parabellum/Luger= 9x19
