Order a Bulgarian from SOG. Chances are about even that you will get a Russian rather than a Bulgie :D

Since we're all among friends here, how much did you have to pay to get that Nirinco 9x18? I had to shell out $325 for mine about a year ago. I got it from an online auction. It seems that they are hardest to find. In seven years of looking at gun shows I have only ever seen one (it looked like is was pulled behind a car).
Also, what makes you think that you will actually complete your Makarov collection? Or, perhaps I should ask how you control yourself so that your mind finally says "I'm done with this collection"? I've got most of them: Bulgarian commercial, Bulgarian PM, East German PM, East German commercial (Simson Suhl), Russian commercial, Russian PM, and Chinese commercial. I'm still lacking a Chinese military (near impossible to find) and a Russian commercial hi-cap. I even bought a commercial Polish P-83, a military Polish P-83 and a CZ-83, just because they were chambered for 9x18. I don't think I'll ever be done.
Those of you that don't own one or just have one, take this as a warning. Never ever ever buy a second Makarov unless you are prepared to hunt for all of them until the end of time. The quest will likely never end.
ok, I admit it... I'm not really finished with my Mak collection :D
BTW, I gave $240 for each of my Norinco's, and both are as new and perfect in eveyway. I have never seen a Norinco as any gunshow, and they come up for sale very infrequently. I believe they were only imported for 1 year, before the ban

Is the Russian Mak hi cap the one that takes 10 and 12 round mags? I got one of those and it says IMEZ made in Russia on the slide. Supposedly there are modified floorplates that will let 8 round mags fit without wigglin around, so that the cheaper 8 rd mags can be used, but right now it has a 10 rounder and am gettng a 12 rounder for it, when my buddy brings the mag back for me.I am looking for another makarov and then the bug will have truly stung.:)

Back in the early 90's...there was a Bulgarian company called UDAR... now UDAR in Russian means 'hit' or 'strike'. Well, that is only in coincidence... it was an acronym for Udmurtia-Arsenal. Udmurtia is the region where Izhevsk is located in Russia...Izhevk is where Makarov's have been made for the longest time.
This was supposed to be a commerical company to sell Russian made arms in Eastern Europe... well, this commercial company also bought the machinery, the steel and all that is needed to build the Makarov pistol.
So, a few years go buy and a company in Tucson, AZ, who imported tons of Russian IJ-70 pistols (Makarov's with leaf adjustable sights) could no longer import Russian made makarovs...there was a need for spare parts....so an interprising Director of Import ;) contacted Aresnal and arranged for some Bulgarian made spare parts to be shipped to Tucson, AZ to fix and repair the guns that were torn down for spare parts and warranty work.
The Bulgarian parts fit flawlessly to the Russian pistols. No finishing was needed whatsoever. In fact, you could not tell one set of parts from another...
So, they are made on the same equipment, they are made with the same steel...
Just a little FYI...
