How do the IJ 70's compare to the Military Maks? Are they less plentyful or easier to find? Any difference in reliability? Were any Military Maks chambered in 380? How does and IJ 70 chambered in 380 compare to its 9x18 counterpart? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

They are made in the same factory as military ones. A true Russian military Mak has to have been a bringback, none were imported. A Mak is a Mak reliability wise, there just isn't too much that can go wrong. No commblock Maks are .380. Less powerful and the rear sight snags on clothing. Not to say that I don't like them, they are fine little numbers and the adjustable rear sight is handy at the range. If you can get a good price on one snatch it up.

Actually I have two Russian military pistols that were imported. One is as new and the other is used. Both have import markings, but are not mismarked as Bulgarians. I got them from Dan's Pawn. Unfortunately I'm at work and can't remember who the importer was.

Cool. Learn something new... I'm very interested in who the importer was so be sure to post when you get to it.

The right side of the frame just below the slide serrations is marked "P W ARMS Redmond, WA 9 X 18". I don't know who they are. I was told by the guy I bought them from that they came in with a bunch of Bulgarian Makarovs. The good thing about this importer is that they didn't mismark them as made in Bulgaria like another importer did.

Yep you got the genuine good stuff. After doing a little research, it looks like they've been around for over a year. Damn! Another one I'm gonna have to have. ;)

This IJ is used but would rate excellent. Pawn guy took $100 + tax. Does anyone have a Blue Book and could tell me what it shows? Thanks again.

I don't have a Blue Book, but I can tell you the going rate for those in that Atlanta area is $140 to $150 at the gun shows. You did really well. If you ever decide to trade or sell it, you won't lose money.
