I was interested in getting one too, but I decided against it when Schuetzenman told me it is almost impossible to find any ammo for them......

You can get the PPV ammo from alot of places. It's Yugoslavian and the cheapest. I see it at every gunshow. The Norma is more expensive. 6.5 Carcano is not that hard to find, but is much more expensive than 7.62X54 or 303 or 8mm.
The most accurate is Norma 156 grain.
Here's an online purchase of Norma if you want some:

And here's a good message board about Carc's:

And a great website on Carcanos:

Well I guess it can be found! Good post, HerrdoktorSchuetzengruvin.
You are bidding on one box of 19 rounds of 156 gr 10.1 grams of good clean ammo. It has been stored in a sealed ammo can , code # 09207. These are hard to find.
Started at $25.00
Us Postal money order only all others will be returned and neg feed back sent. Paypal may be used +3% of total price including shipping.
Personally I can't afford that.

1. I'll just need one box so I can play a bit, then it goes into the collection. I think that was why it was so cheap.:p

Thanks. I just bought a M38 Fucile Corto from gunbrokers that looks awful sweet. My 4th Carcano since the 70's.
I've owned Carc's over the years, the carbines are probably the funest to shoot, but ammo has always been expensive.
They're great conversation pieces though, recoil's not bad, and neither is accuracy. I kind of like them.
I want a 6.5 Jap, too.

HerrdoktorSchuetzengruvin,
A friend of mine has an "Ariska" (spelling?) it had been sporterized in the 1960's (UGH!). He has used it as his primary deer rifle since the mid 80's. He swears by it.

Dear Fellow Members-Turned down a $35.00 Carcano at the last gun show.Pretty clean ,with a nice bore!Tempting, but the ammo is just too esoteric and $.Even the dealer was selling it as a wallhanger!:)My .02 worth:)-Gearhead.

I've seen alot of sporterized Carcanos, too. Though I don't touch hacked up military guns, they all serve a purpose I guess.
I am really not prejudice against any military guns so long as they aren't hacked.

1. It is basically a conversation piece. Not worth much, but rounds out the collection:)
