I'm clearly an idiot!
The Czech silvertips are in my PSL.
I'm getting those groups in my S-308
with Winchester & Wolf (sometimes).

I second the ? on the Czech silvertips in 308. Never heard of it but would love to find some for myself.

For the record, I don't have a Saiga in 308, only a converted 7.62x39 Saiga, however, my other 308/762Nato's wouldn't mind new fodder.

I understand that 1.5 to 2 MOA is standard for the .308 Saiga. I've read where it can do better w/ match grade ammo and hand loads.

My 22" S-308 is converted and I can manage 1-2" with SA surplus and Wolf @100 yards with the iron sights. The 16" carbine is unconverted and shoots about 2-3" with SA and Argentine surplus.I have gotten 1" groups with the 16" taking my time allowing the barrel to cool.

My last S308 was in the 2" range but I just cut down a 22" to 17.5 inches and I'm about to lap the crown and stick a scope on it and see what it will really do!!

These things have a 1 in 10 twist so they should be perfect for M118 shouldn't they?

Wow,I thought it wa 1 in 10 but if it's 1 in 12 then it's amazing that it get's 2-2.20" groups with 168gr ammo!!

I'm interested in buying a Saiga (308,22") myself, but unsure about them. How do they fair around 200+ yards?

My bad guys if I posted this in a wrong forum, but wheres else to ask but the Saigai forums...

They will outprint any HK91 or non-Heavy Barrel FAL I have ever owned and they are lighter and being Kalashnikovs probably more reliable.

I would say they are the equal of a rack grade M1A for accuracy and probably twice as robust.

I'd say you could reliably hit a man sized target at 800 yards if the shooter and optic were up to it.

Hello all. I am not yet a Saiga owner, but do plan on getting ahold of a .308 Saiga pretty soon. (especially with the fuzzy bunny 20-rd mags available!)

What I was pondering was the carbine/16" length barrel version. I would much rather have this length setup, but will the reduced length really zap my accuracy out to 300 yards? I am thinking about realistic, battle range distance rather than magical 800 yard target shooting.

I enjoy the availability of so many scope options for the siderail mounts. A russian night vision scope, 4x32 scope, etc....seems like fun stuff.

(Also, I plan on a Saiga 12 gauge so that I can have interchangeability with night vision and reflex scopes/etc.)

Bottom line, then....16" barrels....just fine? Pretty good accuracy?

Thanks!

The 16" version has in most cases proven to as accurate if not slightly more than the 22" but you will lose somewhere close to 200 FPS. velocity.
For instance, you will get 2700 to 2800 fps. with a 125 grain bullet with the 16" and maybe 2900 to 3000 fps. with the 22"
125@2700 still beats the pants off a 7.62x39 with 123@2300
I have a 16" and love it.

The 16" with a regular buttstock and pistol grip is the handiest weapon of it's range and accuracy I have ever seen!!

It's like a G3K but more reliable, lighter and quicker to reload!!

I love these things and outside a Galil or Valmet with a custom short barrel I can't think of any other rifle I would want to have at any price!!

EAA used to import them then sold outand the importation stopped for 2 or 3 yrs and the prices went up for awhile, then another co got the right to import and the price went back down, still alittle more now. 4 yrs ago i bought a 223 at dunhams fir 179.99 in MI and had it for 3 yrs befor conversion i love the little bugger for what i have in it with new stock and pistol grip and a feww other items for 922 complience,i dont think i have over 275 or 300 total into it shoots like a dream at up to 200 yds never tried futher could not wait to get the 308 22 in and it should be here next week, merry x-mas in march. you cant beat a saiga for price in AKs and convert and get one of the most reliable rifles in the world in any cal.

I am looking into getting one of these myself. I see the price of 349.99 (for the 16") from 'Arms of America' in shotgun news. Anybody know of a better price? Or have any of you heard of the company? If so, do you know if they will charge a credit card that doesn't belong to the FFL they are shipping the gun to?

Don know about saigas but i prefer the fal any day of the week over the 18" .308 vepr i owned. Ive owned three fals two l1a1s and a r1a1. They all shot 1.5" or better " The vepr shot about 2". recoil of the vepr was noticably more than a fal. $3 20 shot magswith a FAL.
