I took my Colt H-Bar shooting today.

The first mag everything ran like a Swiss watch.

I loaded the second mag, pulled the trigger, rifle fired and reloaded just fine. On the second round in that mag I got nothing. So I ejected the shell and fired the next round. On the 4th round.....nothing.

At first I thought I hit some bad primers. Then I noticed the trigger wasn't resetting.

The rest of that mag and 2 more fired fine.

What would cause my rifle to do that sporadically?

Everything was clean, rifle may have 5-600 rounds through it.

Try a few drops of CLP in your FCG. Pull the trigger and hold it to the rear. Pull the bolt to the rear and release. Now release the trigger. It should reset with a click. Do this until it will release every time. ;)

Problem easily solved. Trash the colt or just keep it as display safe queen. And get a real gun, an AK. Not a big AK fan, go valmet or galil or daewoo. If it has to be a AR style, guess the only option is the HK416. Garrantee trigger cock reset cause it's piston driven and not just blowing bunch of air thru a straw. LOL

If you knew what you were talking about you might be worth listening too, however.................

Ditto that. I don't think I've read a more useless, ignorant post yet on this part of the board.

Flinter: I personally would completely remove the fire control group and detail clean it. Once done, lube it properly and reassemble and check function. As .308 said, I would like to know what ammo you were using and if a good quality GI spec. mag was being used as well.

Could have been some weak powder charges or a bad lot of ammo. Did it dimple the primer good. If the trigger was riding the carrier back to battery then it could be a sticky disconnector. Hose out the FCG with some GunScrubber then lube.

My fault, I should have posted that.

It was UMC 55 grainers.

The mag was an old one but I had just installed a new spring/magpul follower.

I haven't been back to the range yet so I can't tell you if cleaning/lubing the FCG worked or not.
