Unbelievable!
I ordered a complete upper receiver from CMMG on 01MAR07. A week later I called to ask when the part would ship, Linda stated that the barrel was at the chrome shop, and that the upper should be ready within sometime between the next few days and a month. I called back today; Linda said that it would be at least another week, and that they were very busy. When I complained about running an internet business and having the store reflect the actual in-stock inventory, Linda encouraged me to take my business elsewhere. After taking Linda up on her offer, she promptly hung the phone up in my ear. I manage an internet business, and it is not rocket surgery to have an online store show “out of stock” or backorder status for products listed. CMMG should also do some training on how to deal with customers, or allow Linda some nap time. It is a shame that a company has so much business that they don’t care if they lose customers because of an employee with a bad attitude. I am very disappointed with the customer service at CMMG.

Things go out of stock....websites don't always reflect real time inventory. It's quite common and is especially true in the gun business. Did they charge your card for the out of stock item?
No experience with the Linda that you talked to, but the 2 times I have dealt with CMMG customer service they were quick and helpful.

Funny, I never have a problem keeping up with the inventory on my website. I do not have anything available to order that is not in stock.. Ever. Also not making any kind of contact with the coustomer is unacceptable. At least send out an e-mail saying out of stock. YMMV.
Also, by fooling me into believing that I had a deal made, even though my CC was not charged, I did not buy a complete rifle at a gun show this past weekend. Doing business like that just plain stinks.

I hate to add this, but I have been lucky enought to have very good luck with CMMG several times. Unfortunately with the internet, sellers are going to have to learn to keep their sites current, otherwise they can make people very angry when things that are ordered turn out to be unavailable as you unfortunately found out.

CMMG's response on arf.com:
James's call was handled appropriately considering the hostility and lecturing we received on the phone. You get all types.
Moving on.

If your card was not charged, you really have shouldn't be going ballistic here. It's completely unrealistic to think that every vendor on the net, especially one that does such high volume as CMMG, is going to have a 100 percent accurate, real time, online inventory system. Hell......I've seen Microsoft COMPANY STORE orders go through on a backordered item. It happens.....often. Should they have notified you the item was out of stock? Sure. But there is certainly no need to get all worked up over it and it's not their fault that you didn't purchase a gun at a gun show because of it. That was your decision....not theirs.
I cannot, and will not comment on the behavior of you or the CMMG rep. since I was not there.

Yeah, I guess if they dont charge your card, all is fair. Total lack of communication with the customer, no e-mail saying "out of stock, shipment delayed" no phone call, hanging up on the irate customer when they haven't heard anything in 2 weeks is good. Just. As. Long. As. The. Card. Isn't. Charged. I guess I should have thought of that myself. My bad.
BTW 700, don't take this as a personal slam. I am an asshole, I will be the first to admit it. I get a bit annoyed when folks try to do more then they are able, and then don't want to deal with folks who get pissed when they don't communicate.
In all fairness, the folks at CMMG build a good product at a fair price, they need to let distributors deal with retail customers and concentrate efforts on building products.
