well I was trying to get this pin driven out so I can clean the firing pin but it's stuck.now look what I did. I put a hair line crack in the pin.damn this sucks.I think ill order another one and when I get it in then drive this one the rest of the way out. if it brakes oh well at lest ill have another one an stand by.am I doing something wrong? I'm just using a punch and hammer on the other side and trying to push it out.

it looks like your punch was to sharp. you need a more blunt one.

I decided to try my bolt to see if I could help you, and I have the same problem, that pin won't budge.

I soaked it in WD40, still no luck.

Maybe the Yugo's did something different when they seated the pin. I can't see that they welded it or peened it though.

I may try boiling the bolt for awhile, the super dry climate out here should allow it to dry without rusting even if I can't get it disassembled.

I tried it with the firing pin extended and retracted. I'm wondering if the firing pin is a different type and it has to be rotated or something to let the retaining pin come out. Doesn't seem that way though. I'll keep at mine and let you know if i have any luck. I may try a Chinese or Romanian one and see how easy those are.

Let me know if you get it out.

Jes- those little dimples shown in the picture are hardness testing marks. The pin is driven out from the opposite side as that shown in the picture.

ok, i though it to be kinda odd to drive it from that side. but since i have never tried to remove mine i'm wasn't going to question it, though i almost did.

ok, i just looked at mine. it doesn't have those test marks.

i remember hearing that those pins are VERY difficult to get out, you have to hit them very hard

Though the Yugo is not mentioned, here is a little piece on firing pins I found.

HTH I've not disassembled mine.

Yep, I did a Romanian bolt, exact same bolt as the Yugo. The pin pops right out, hardly any force needed at all just a light tapping with the punch from the kit and a tack hammer. One side of the pin is flattened where it comes in contact with the firing pin. I'm going to try to rotate the pin slightly and see if that helps.

My guess though is that these were machined to a closer tolerance than the Romanian ones. It's a very tight fit I bet. Did you leave your soak overnight? I may try that before I move on.

I let mine soak for a few hours. I got a little impatient so I gave it a few wacks with a hammer and a punch and this is what I got (the pic above).by the way the crack looks, it might be held together some other way I think.
ill let mine set overnight in mineral spirits.maybe that will loosen something up.
I'm pretty good at figuring out puzzles but just damn I cant figure this one out.

yeah, i decided to forget it, the bolt is clean anyway.

But guess what? I popped out the trigger assembly and the damn safety spring snapped

Oh well I don't need no stinking safety!!

I'll pick up another spring one of these days.

sorry about the safety spring.have sog send you a new one.just tell them it broke when you where cleaning it.it won't hurt to call .I think they will, they told me they where going to send the parts that where not up to my satisfaction.plus you don't have to send in the old part.

If you ever see how or find out the trick on how to take the firing pin out please let me know.I'm going to let it soak it in mineral spirits tonight and hit it one time and of it does not come lose ill just forget about it.

thanks for all your help

No big deal I just knocked out the pin and took the safety off. I'll just leave it off until I replace the spring. I may try to hand fashon one. I have the dimentions. Just for the hell of it, doesn't look like a hard spring to make. I like doing crap like that. Maybe I'll call them though thanks for the advice. The spring is $4.99 at tapco.

I let it soak for 24 hours and tried to knock it out.I did not work.oh well ill just leave it the way it is I guess.if there is a problem later on ill just buy a new bolt.
I wonder if a Romanian one will work in a Yugoslavian?
thanks for the help
