We've just been made aware that evidently there are 2 specs on ammunition for 6.8 ammunition. There are the original Remington's 6.8 specs and there is an aftermarket 6.8 ammunition manufacturer that is slightly longer and the shoulder is slightly modified. Our barrels are chambered for 6.8mm Remington SPC ammunition; however we have the reamer to modify non-chrome lined barrels to accept the aftermarket ammunition. The issue is that if reamed for the aftermarket ammunition then the accuracy is greatly degraded if you switch back to 6.8 Remington SPC ammunition (preliminary tests go from .5 MOA to 4 MOA). At this time we are only aware of one aftermarket ammunition manufacturer that is using these altered specs, but before investing in a great deal of ammunition you may want to check and see which spec the ammunition is manufactured to. To the best of our knowledge all of the major ammunition manufacturers (Remington, Hornady, Speer, etc.) are building ammunition to the true spec.
