Fellow NDM-86 owners: I have a .308 model and on my rear sight leaf there is the upside down U indicating battle setting. Do all the Chinese SVD's have this? Isn't this a Russian cyrillic mark? My leaf is a gray color with the numbers in an off-white, is that like yours?

That is the cyrillic letter "P" I believe.
It does sound like a Soviet sight leaf. I think most Chinese are marked "D", but I'm not sure.

if you are speaking about the last figure on the rear site that looks like a II SIMILAR!!it is a constant sight setting which corresponds to a sight setting of four, the reason this was not answered earlier because alot of questions are answered in many earlier posts, and i don't have the time or really want to answer them all.there is alot of people who should give you many dragunov answers, good luck with yours, take care, krinkov

Hi guys, thanks for your answers, and Krinkov, I hope you don't feel that you are required to give an answer to every post here! Keep up the good work though, as your efforts are appreciated. I may have not been very clear however in my original post as I'm wondering not what the symbol means but if it is common, or as Chamberlin says, the "D" marking is more common. I am just surprised that my Chinese NDM-86 might have a Soviet rear sight. Any other .308 SVD owners notice this on their rifles?
