So I am really thinking about getting a 9mm Ar some time when I get back. I have been looking at all the information I can, which sadly doesnt seem like alot to me. From what I can tell the best thing to do would be to just get a RRA complete rifle, since it would be my first experience in the 9mm AR field. Then there is Olympic Arms though, I dont like there upper cause it has the full size ejection slot. I guess just personal preference there but I dont like there modified sten mags either. They do have one that takes glock mags.

It looks to me like it doesnt use a block and that it is a fully machined lower. Anybody know? Also would the Olyarms glock lower work with a 9mm RRA upper. Does the difference in the ejection port make a difference? Also whats the plate on the left side with the allen head screw for, on the oly lower?

I started with and oly and the lack of a BHO drove me nuts. I picked up a RRA upper with a mag block for the lower and havent looked back. I normally use pthe promag 32rd composite mags but Ive got 4 40rd modified uzi mags that work great also.

It would seam to me that a 9mm round shot
through a long barrel such as a rifle would slow
the bullet down where you wouldn't get much
range. Do you guy's use this for close target
or for the price you can shoot it for.

Im only looking at 100yard max 200. The price is a plus, and I was thinking about buying a Glock 17 when I get back. I havent had one since the Glock 21 got stolen, and with the AWB out, the 32round glock mags for cheap seem preety cool. Plus ammo interchangablity.

You might want to check out some ballistic tables you will find the opposite to be true.

Only a gain out of a longer bbl. (until about 30").
My 11.5" is at least 60fps faster than a handgun bbl.
I've had good results with the Garrison Mfg. (Colt-style) setup.
My biz partner and I each have them in the company car as our backup weapons (FL. > Armed Security > 9mm backup weapon).
Lots of fun; super accurate (crazy-accurate, in fact); and, the rapid-fire/follow-up shots are equally amazing.
Just get your bolt ramped (or do it yourself if you have the time and inclination), as the non-ramped bolt definitely put more wear&tear on the Hammer pin.

Not so, as stated by ninner the actual effect is a boost in bullet speed. The slower the powder used for the round, the more the increase in bullet speed. I have clocked an extra 200 fps for a load fired from my Uzi carbine over what the same load does out of my Glock 19.

Here are some 9 x 19mm velocities I shot over a range of barrel lengths. The ammo used was Winchester (USA) white box 115 gr. FMJ and the average velocity was over a 10-rnd string. I used a PACT chronograph.
Glock 26 3.6" barrel 1093 fps
Glock 19 4" barrel 1147 fps
Glock 17 4.6" barrel 1173 fps
Browning HP 5" barrel 1180 fps
Group Ind. SMG 10" barrel 1259 fps
Marlin Camp 9 Carbine 18" 1336 fps
9 x 19mm does add a big gain with longer carbine barrels. Other cartridges may not. I only gain about 30-50 fps going from a 5" barrel 1911 to my Marlin Camp 45 Carbine.
