I am a big time HK enthusiast, I love everything about them and really keep up on the news. An announcement from HK has just come forward and they stated that they have reversed their decision about the 416 and 417 concerning Civilian sales. They are now going to be supplying them to the civilian market and plan to be ready for production by the third quarter of the 08 year.

To some of you, HK makes overpriced, over engineered firearms. But to some of us this is huge news and very exciting! I am overjoyed!

I'd like to have one, but just thinking about the price tag makes me cringe.

Dittos. They'll want to ass-rape us price wise given the strength of the Euro. Then again if they make it all here in the USA the price might not be as bad as most of us are thinking.

I received an e-mail from POF-USA Wednesday stating that my gas-piston upper is on the way via UPS. I believe the POF rifles and HKs 416 share many similarities including the price. But I did quite a bit of research into the POF system and I think I'll be pleased with my 27 week wait.

I think they'll be in the $1,500-$2,000 range( that seems to be the going rate for most H&K "sporting" rifles, like the SL8, at this time). H&K will have to keep the price lower just to be able to compete with other manufacturers. Remember H&K rifles( 91's, 93's and 94's) weren't all that expensive in the 80's before the ban. I mean, they weren't cheap, but they didn't cost an arm and a leg like, for example, the Steyr AUG's did. They'll probably do what most other foreign based companies are doing, build most parts here, and bring in a few from the main factory back in Germany.

Extractor and the tiny amount of metal the extractor goes through IMHO.

I'd be willing to bet HK has the extractor thing figured out of they wouldn't have gotten those massive MRBS/MRBF figures out of an M16 platform with naught but a piston.

So,resolving gas port erosion and an extractor that won't cheese out will cost an extra $1000?

Typical HK,eh?
