Does anyone make a 5.45X 39 upper for the AR-15 or even just a barrel?
Thanks

Go over to ar-15.com and do some searches....there was someone making uppers but that run was sold out long ago.....there was also some barrel runs being done and people were building their own uppers but it was taking some effort.

Alexander Arms in Radford Va used to make one and it was called the Gengish. I don't think it is in regular product anymore but can be special ordered.

They no longer make these uppers, not even on a special order basis. I spoke with them not a week ago trying to find out if they were still available and I was told they no longer make them and that they weren't available for special order either.............

I've been "using" my olympic arms upper complete, a2 configuration carry handled, 16" 1x8" twist 5.45 upper I bought for bout $550, plus another hundred dollars in extra mags from Midway, of which are sold out, bought mine two months ago, think it was like luck to get some of the few available what with everyone panic buying and people looking for cheaper ammo.
For me, it was like no parts or ammo shortage at all, bought the upper completee, then ordered some ammo, bout a week later I was ashamedly wasting ammo at the range with a friend like the ammo was nothing, ($140 per case of 1080x2 and $20 shipping).
The available mags are c-products stainless steel bodied, teflon coated spring/anti-tilt follower $19 bucks a piece, bought loads of those too.
The upper assembly was tight on the charles daly lower, had to use a wooden dowel to drive in the rear pin several times, can halfway by hand now and requires a pin punch to get the rear pin moving, but at least it is accurate to 300 meters with 52 gr bulgarian 70's surplus and doesn't need an accuwedge like my expensive colt hbar, so oh well so swell that I need tools to take it apart, for now.

I believe Smith & Wesson makes one.

Ditto. Smith and Question is making one, though I'm a bit squirrelly about both 5.45 and 7.62x39 in the AR due to the fact that most of the ammo is fairly "dirty".
