Got a MAK90 sunday and it has a threaded barrel, are all AK threads the same ratio?
If it make a difference my MAK90 says that it was assembled by Briklee...Brinklee I can't remember the exact name

The standard thread size for AK-47 type rifles is 14x1mmLH. This means the diameter of the threads is 14mm and the pitch is 1mm. The LH means that the threads are left hand and to screw a muzzle brake onto the barrel you will have to turn it to the left/counter clockwise.
All AK-47 rifles and semi auto clones imported have the same thread size 14x1mmLH.
You need to check the right side of the receiver of the rifle as it will have the model number=MAK-90,serial number, mfg.,and importer stamped on it. Brinklee is most likly the importer.

If your receiver say's MAK-90 or the serial number starts with 90- 94. Putting a screw-on muzzle attachment would be illegal under the 1989 imported assault weapons ban. There is no legal way you can screw on a muzzle break or suppressor. you would need to convert your gun to a domestic content gun before you could permenantly attach (weld or pin) any muzzle attachment.

Irecently bought NIB Mak-90. I also was and still quite puzzled about the barrel being threaded or not.

Either way, I went ahead and bought a pin-on AK-74 style brake from Tapco, and found out it was wayyy too lose on the barrel. Unless I welded it on, the pin wasn't going to hold it in place securely during fire.
I then thought maybe the tool mark looking threads are real threads on the barrel, and thought about buying a screw on brake.

Still am confused as hell as to the barrel of Mak-90 being real thread or just a tool mark, and which brake??? DANG!!!!!!!!!

I've got a Maadi with a Chinese barrel, if the grooves are thin and cover the whole barrel, they are most likely tooling marks. My barrel also had the area where the threads WOULD be cut down to a smaller diameter than the rest of the barrel. I think that some companies make an adapter for this also, but you would have to make it legal by making it "permanent" and following the 10 parts rule.

I don't understand this 10 point rule stuff as I have never heard of it util I started reading this site. I have a MAK-90 with a thumbhole stock and put a AK-74 Krinkoff style, pin on muzzle brake on it. Is it legal to do that or has the BAT Fags made some kind of regulation against doing it? Hell, it is just hammered on then pinned with the new front sight pin supplied from Cheaper Than Dirt and they didn't say anything about a 10 point system crap. They just included instructions on how to put it on. As the younger generation says, Whats up? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Really,

My understanding is the pin on break is ok on a imported rifle it's the threads that except a flash hider that are banned but if you do convert it to pistol grip then it becomes a 16th part that has to be counted in the total meaning you would have to replace 6 parts to get down to 10 (if its imported tapco's are US)

Yep, Bill & Al did us all a real favor. None of it makes sense. All it does is add cost to customizing your rifle, which was probably the intent. It is interesting to note that alot of the rules don't apply to weapons made in the U.S., or if you use U.S. parts then everything is O.K. As if U.S. made weapons or parts aren't lethal. (Ask Osama or Sadam.) Having said all this, you better get on top of the parts count issue and be in compliance or they will come and take you away! They (BATF) can't take a joke! I had Arsenal USA, 713-944-3351, do my muzzle breaks. They offer U.S. made breaks as well as foreign made breaks. They will thread your rifle (if needed) and install the breaks in accordance with U.S. laws. They do a good job. Good luck!

Is Arsenal USA the same as Global Trades? If I put ArsenalUSA.com into my address finder,it goes To Global.

They have some great muzzle attachments for cheap. I bought a Krinkov style for mine ($15) and it looks good .As long as your barrel length is at least 16 inches long, who cares what you put on the end of it.
