Had a little trouble last time out with the AK. It would fire occasionaly in full auto mode, but jammed every other round or so. Finally figured out that there was a piece of slag inside the bolt from the manufacture of the bolt, and it had gotten to the front of the bolt where the firing pin hole was and sealed it off. I cleaned it out, and hopefully it will shoot well. Going to try it again this weekend. Also going to use one of those vertical foregrips, and see what difference that makes in controlling it. It's not too difficult now, because I put a rate-reducer-anti-bounce device in it, but, we'll see what happens, and I'll post an AAR.

Do you have a registered receiver? Ever consider building up something neat like an RPK, AK-74 or Krinkov from one of the multitude of high quality kits available now? Looking forward to that report.

I've often thought about getting Pauly at Krinks down in FL to make a shorty AK out of my registered receiver, but I haven't done anything about it because the weapon is so much fun just as it is. I'd like a Krinkov, though...maybe one day I'll do it. It's just unbelievably fun now, though. Next time I'm at the Creek I'll find one of the shorty's and check it out really well.

My family is an owner of a Mac90, the new version of the AK47, throughout my child hood i have always been interested in Automatic rifles, i would like to be able to collect them but do not understand the laws that needed to be abided by. Is there anybody that can tell how to get started, what permets do I need how to go about getting my first rifle, and any other information that I need to know. Please e-mail me at musal5@wiu.edu since I do not check these boards often.

Well, took the AK out yesterday. It ran flawlessly in full auto, and semi auto. Not one jam in 1440 rounds. I installed the rate-reducer/anti-bounce device in it, and it runs just a hair faster than a grease gun. So, while the three M16's were over there gumming up, and breaking down, Mr. Kalishnikov just kept right on churning through magazine after magazine. Not that I have anything against M16's, because their accuracy is incredible. But everytime I put my AK up against them in reliability, they lose, everytime. The accuracy on the AK is acceptable for what it was designed to do. We were shooting 35 gallon drums at 200 yards, and the AK was plinking them everytime. That rate-reducer/anti-bounce device also makes it easy to hold the weapon on target.
Another thing that has helped tremendously was the addition of a vertical foregrip from K-Var, and I highly recommend using one if you're doing full auto AK. It helps you to keep the weapon from going 'high and right' during extended full auto or burst firing sessions. You can just keep pulling on it with your hand at a more natural position, so it helps keep all the rounds on target. Fortunately, I got the whole day on video tape...

Just got back from my class III dealer; got
to hold my Polytech registered receiver MG.
It is a beauty, when I get the paper work
and the MG it is going to Mike for a 223 Bulgarian Krink kit installation.
Hope the paper work does not take 6 months?
The Krinkov kit contains the rate reducer;
cyclic rate at about 650rpm?????

Karl,
Let me know how the Krinkov kit works out. I may put one on mine, but I want hear from someone who has one first. I am concerned about reliability and function, as well as cosmetics.
Thanks.

BlackBelt,
Will keep you informed about the project.
Also will look into the reliability issues.
