Hey, all. Need some help IDing some mags I bought this weekend. They are 7.62 blued steel and apear to be Chinese in every aspect but one. The top of the mag does not have the solid plate on either side like the standard AK mag, instead it has a square section with two riders coming out of the top, draw a square, divide the top line into threes, and place two lines at the 1/3rd and 2/3rd places( sorry, I don't have a digital camera, as that would make this way too easy), and that's what it looks like. The square section is pressed out of the side of the mag, it's all one piece. Also, the rear lug is different, more streamlined and the side of the mag has two dimples up at the top to retain the follower. There are no marks on the mag, no numbers or letters at all. Any of you have any idea? They are definately steel, not aluminum, and they actually look pretty cool. Any advice or info greatly appreciated. Thanks, Treadhead.

Those mags are China's attempt a producing a lighter AKM magazine similar to what the Soviets did with their Aluminum waffle mags.
One thing is for sure they are not all that rare, as I see them all the time now. The last one I picked up for $5 , it was mixed in with a few other chinese mags.
A collectable keeper non the less

Thanks for the info, all. AK-Fan, those picture posts are the ones, mine look exactly like those. So what's the value of these? I know what I paid for them, and it looks like I paid a little too much, but they still look pretty cool. Anyone know where I can get some more wholesale? Any info appreciated. Thanks, Treadhead.

Treadhead,
Sorry I have no clue of the value, as I havent seen any for sale on the web. Dont worry too much about the price you paid, as Chinese imports are blocked. It doesnt seem that any more of those mags will make it to the US.

Treadhead,
The first one that went into my collection I traded a Soviet bakelite for it. I did that because it was the first and only one I had seen. But I have seen quite a few lately at gunshows. A local C3 dealer is selling them to other collectors for $35 each.

Thanks for the info, guys. I paid $15 a piece for mine, basically because we weren't sure if they were Russian or Chinese. I figured if they were Russian, Progressive would have some come in at a reasonable price, and if they were Chinese, then, as you said, no more would be coming in. I rolled the dice and I won....? Oh, well. The fellow I got them from has three more, maybe I'll grab them this weekend. Thanks, Treadhead.
